i understand. prince, for example, would often play ALL the music on his album. yes, drums, piano, keyboards, guitars, etc. the revolution was simply to tour with him because he couldn't play them all live... there's a level that is truly underappreciated

Speaking of Chuck D, what happened with that project he was supposed to be doing with Rage Against the Machine and that dude from Cypress Hill? Sounded interesting, since Chuck's a great lyricist, Tom Morello's a great guitarist, and well, I'm not exactly sure what Cypress Hill was going to add because they are kind of a one note sort of thing, but it is what it is. I think they were supposed to tour together...just curious if anyone saw them and if they were any good. Or if anyone would pick those 3 guys to have dinner with.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Prince was a sick musician...he was a prodigy on a whole other level. It's crazy that he wouldn't have surgery to repair the hip he hurt by repeatedly jumping off amps on stage while wearing high heel platform shoes, because he was a Jehovah's Witness and they wouldn't allow it, so he had to manage pain with heavy duty prescription narcotic painkillers that ultimately did him in. Truly a shame.

My 12 year old daughter plays multiple instruments, and she worshipped guys like Prince and Bowie while everyone else at her school only knows Ariana Grande featuring Nicki Minaj and the Chainsmokers or whatever other garbage is on the charts now.

                  1) Jesus (no influence from Flippy. In fact, I love you flip, really, but you rarely influence me);
                  2) CS Lewis
                  3) Ford Fixer. His wife is a great cook.

I think the consensus top three would have to be:

                    1. Jesus and his magic lamp
                    2. Fordfixer's wife and her cookbook
                    3. Jiga's wife's grandfather

And we'd play the latest J Cole album while we eat, just so he could be one unit closer to the Beatles.

i don't know the religion... but, "you can't have surgery, but, CAN have pain killers" just seems a little odd. wondering what religious rules cause that to happen.

We brought her up listening to the Beatles and Michael Jackson, and she still loves that stuff.

She has a really eclectic taste. She collects vinyl records. For a while she'll be into Radiohead, and now she's just started listening to Arcade Fire. I'm raising a damn hipster.

She says her favorite band of all time is Queen, and her favorite bands still making music now are Foo Fighters and Green Day.

The only new, young popular group that I ever hear her talk about are Twenty One Pilots (and they aren't bad...I took her to one of their shows last year and was dreading it, but those guys put on a decent show).

Everyday when I get home from work, she has our Alexa playing songs from the Broadway Musical Hamilton while she is doing her homework and rapping along with Lin Manuel Miranda.

One time, I remember about a year or two ago, we were walking through some store in the mall and a Slick Rick tune came on, and in the middle of the store she burst out in sing along, "La di da di...we like to party...we don't cause trouble...we don't bother nobody." The two big black guys at the front of the store nearly did a spit take when they saw this preteen white girl rapping along...really funny stuff.

                              what he said.

The cool thing is my kiddos are similar in their musical taste.

My motto (which the 3 of them completely agree with) is: "good music is good music. the genre is irrelevant".... Except, my 14 year old son does like today's rap - even then, he understands the difference between what they do and the pure art of it.

My daughter told me last week that she's getting tired of me saying, "what do you know about ____" (plug in your 70s-90's artist).
Recently caught her singing Billy Joel and i'm like, "WTF do you know about HIM!?!"
"Good music is good music", she replied.

Ha ha...on the other hand my 15 year old son listens to pretty much only Led Zeppelin, Gorillaz, any music that is used often in Vietnam era war movies (CCR, Stones, Hendrix, Buffalo Springfield, etc.), whatever songs he recognizes from his NBA2K or Grand Theft Auto games on Xbox, or his favorite professional wrestler entrance songs.
