Personally, I think Jones and Mettenberger are competing for the backup spot..I think Dobbs is a developmental pick, much like Landry Jones was...hopefully, with better success...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I don't think they will keep Mettenberger after drafting Dobbs. Dobbs will be on the roster at #3, even if he isn't yet the third best QB on the team.

So you've got Willie Gay as a cut. I think it's certainly plausible. He and Heyward Bey are guys who are both going to have a tough battle despite being veteran leaders in their respective position groups.

I agree. I think they go with the young guys and hope Gay and Bey don't get signed and they will keep them on a string

My favorite guy that didn't make your cut is Ayers. While there's not a lot of room for WRs, I think his work ethic is something you want to keep around and see develop. Kid's got too much heart and sets a tone you want out of every member of the team.

Sorry, but unless he can return kicks like Devin Hester he isn't beating our Brown, Bryant, JuJu, Coates or Rogers. Those guys are just better than him and I think returner/special teams is Ayers only chance to making the team.

I wonder if they'll keep four TE's considering they're going to keep Nix. That could allow for one more WR

                  Last season:

                  Coates - 14 games, 5 starts, 2 TDs

                  Ayers - 2 games, 1 start, 1 TD

I like Coates, but he has a lot to prove...

with all our wr depth, seems like picking a wr in the second was a waste then

Not if he's better. Having bodies at a position doesn't mean there is depth.

if he is better than 4 or 5 other WR's it isn't a waste, it's an upgrade.

Pretty obvious except when some don't want to lose their reasons to complain. JuJu is probably the third best WR on the team right now pure talent wise and probably the second best who won't be suspended.

Curious as to the thoughts on Ethan Cooper, the FA out of IUP? Why didn't he get drafted? Level of competition?

Definitely level of competition. He was fat and sloppy coming out of HS which limited his scholarship offers. Turned it around in college and now has an NFL caliber frame. Technique needs a bit of work but as a UDFA offers a huge upside
