The Steelers should still be building their team around Ben Roethlisberger

nonsensical? why would you include Luck in this discussion? That wasn't anywhere near your plan of bringing a young QB to sit and learn behind a vet. They went 2-14 and didn't have Peyton under center. You don't want to tank to get a high pick, you want to groom a QB.

The Peyton to Luck is the exact opposite of what you want to get a franchise QB.

I would much rather wait and have a down season to get a high pick vs using a 1st rounder to groom a QB.

If the Steelers had had a Gorropolo *spelling* and won those 2/3 games the team finishes 14-2/13-3; and if the Patriots had had Landry Jones and lost all 4 of their Bradyless games, we would've won the number one seed easily. If you look back at the last 4 years (since 2013), the difference between eeking into the playoffs/missing the playoffs has always been just a couple of games. If we won more of the games that Ben invariably misses every season, we'd regularly have better odds at winning a championship.
Again away with your logic...we want a shiny new toy to play with right now!

The Pats had the number one scoring defense, AND they had a good backup QB.
Elite defense allows you to have success regardless the QB.
We went undefeated with a rookie scrub Mike Kruzek who threw exactly ZERO touchdowns in 6 starts too.
        Great defense did that.

I would suggest that the number one scoring defense is far and away more important than QB depth to the Patriots success.

A rookie backup QB aint gonna help William Gay cover people, or give James Harrison the fountain of youth.

We need to complete the defensive rebuild, or the Pats will continue to be better than us.

GREAT DEFENSE and an elite STARTING QB is responsible for every single one of our SIX championships.

When we have the number one scoring defense, talk to me about the luxury of drafting a QB early.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Nope. A first round QB will help us win a SB much faster than a DB or LB in the first round.

LOL, like the "outside the box" thinking.
Bout as logical as any other reason I guess.

I can see it now, the QB running the option and Ben as the outlet...who's going to run it?
