Was it Foster or someone else on the line, who blew their achilles? I was wanted us to cut them, but they proved me wrong.

Hopefully this kid gets drafted, ( our comp pick) and recovers fully.

What stumps me is that Mitchell is very physical, not a ballhawk, not a great tackler in space but we choose to keep him 25+ yards off the ball.
Davis played corner in college and has the ability to do so in a pinch so its not crazy to have him do a Carnell Lake and draft a ballhawking safety which we're in desperate need of.

I'm convinced by Colbert's mostly in-actions toward the secondary (throw out last year) over the last several years that he really doesn't value the secondary positions. He just doesn't.

Colbert was our GM when we drafted Troy and Ike and he also ultimately paid them both handsomely in subsequent contracts as well.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I dont agree CB is not valued by KC and company. It is always BPA +need+value along with things we don't see in character and team fit is how I see it. It is not so cut and dry for at least a 1st rd pick as some like to make fun of around here. I believe he really looks for what they think is a special player in the 1st. Not a lot of CB's that are really special make it to the Steelers pick. And it seems maybe I am way off I have never seen those stats. But also that good CB's can be found later then 1st & 2nd rd. Heck look at Gilbert! 100% good CB grade with no football love. Can't be a great pro like that. Seems some one here posted 1st rd CB has a big bust average? I Also think they use to value a different skill set for DL zone blitz scheme. Seems to have changed now that coach DL is gone.

              reposting:

              Observations:
              • There has been very little difference between cornerbacks selected 1-13 and 14-24
              o 14-24 has a higher % of five-year starters while 1-13 has a higher % of Pro Bowl selections
              • Cornerback selections after the 73rd pick have not done well
              • As a general rule, take cornerbacks earlier rather than later

              Observations:
              • Teams tend to stay away from safeties early (although that has been changing in recent years)
              • Safeties have been a low-risk pick
              • The probability of drafting a five-year starter has been higher than the average of all draft choice ranges in all groups except the 74-114 draft selections
              • Safeties have the highest percentage of players with five-year careers from selections 188 and higher

you have to select CB early if you want quality. Our CB selection has been pretty cruddy but we tend to select later in rounds most years.

we did well with Burns and I think the trend continue's this year. We had Ike for years so it's not like we needed a top flight CB early when we had more pressing needs.

I have no idea why Real Deal keeps knocking Colbert. He is one of the best in the biz.

I'm ok with ILB, OLB, DB or QB in the first this year.

thank you. Cornerback is a premium position in this league. If you want a good one, most are found high in the draft now. Don't get me wrong; teams have found good ones later. But Colbert's track record as of late has been terrible with late round selections of cornerbacks. We have one first round pick in a year I wish we had two.

Artie Burns, Senquez Golson, Cortez Allen, Curtis Brown, Keenan Lewis, Doran Grant, Shaquille Richardson, Terry Hawthorne, Terrence Frederick, Crezdon Butler, Joe Burnett
These are Colberts CB's since 2009, pretty dismal if you ask me

Well Artie looks like he's going to be a good one.
One thing Colbert has going is this draft is DB heavy....

And only one of those players was drafted in the first...only one in each of the first three rounds, IIRC...

Maybe the Steelers should stop drafting DBs after round 2. Use those picks on WRs instead, then develop and trade some of them for the DBs they need.

Of course, I'm just being facetious... but it kind of makes a guy wonder...
