Ben's my favorite Steeler (and really, my favorite player period), but now that he's publicly contemplating retirement, should the team move in a new direction? I for one wouldn't mind using one of our first 2 draft picks on a QB if there was one worth taking at that position.

If his heart is not in it as a Steeler and the price is right yes. Any option should be open. But if they did might as well scrap the whole deal. Start over with Coaches. Trade AB also. Keep Bell for a year or 2 to run the wheels off and get a couple wins for the new coach. Draft 1st rd QB next yr. But I don't want to go on that ride. I enjoy the "gunslinger".Comment

First, I don't believe Ben is top 5 QB anymore but he is still better than most. There's no doubt he lost some edge and some of that magic he had to pull out games. With that said, I suffered as a Steeler fan because I became a fan in 1981. I remember all those years of sorting through trash QBs. It's awful. Ben isn't going anywhere. He blamed everyone but himself for that loss which annoys the crap out of me. But it is what it is. You keep Ben, you keep Bell and you keep Brown. You have Bryant and fingers crossed Green coming back. You make one more strong run hoping you stay healthy then you reassess.Trolls are people too.Comment

Hell no... might as well scoop up Tyrod Taylor. Hokie QB's are terrible at reading defenses and passing downfield.Steelers 27

You have to keep Ben. I don't see any guy the Steelers would have a shot at getting being anywhere near his level. If they can get Brown & Bell locked up for another few seasons along with Bryant coming back strong and get a few D guys back (Heyward, Golston) plus additional growth from a strong young D (Dupree, Shazier, Davis, Burns) you have a really good if not great team to make a legitimate run.
With that said; Ben has to play much better come playoff time. Over the last 3 years he's been downright pedestrian. Over 24 playoff quarters from 2014 - 2016 he's thrown only 5 TDs and also 5 interceptions. Two of six games with no TDs and three games with 1. Those are bad numbers. Maybe what he really needs to contemplate in the off season is how he plays better when the season is on the line.sigpicComment

We have about two seasons worth of good play from Ben; we use those two seasons to turn over every rock possible until we find our QB of the future; then we move on. Not before.Comment
