Now DeCastro speaking out about how O-line let the team down with their poor play vs. the Browns.

Guess somebody needs to get in his face and tell him to chill, since the game was completely meaningless.

Professional players who don't play up to their own high standards can be understandably upset with their own performance or the performance of their unit as a whole. I'm not surprised by this. But as the outside observers that you and I both are, please enlighten me with the profound meaning that the outcome of this game apparently has.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I think the guys on D where trying, they just where very undisciplined. I think a lot of guys where taking some chances they wouldn't normally take in a meaningful game. I wouldn't worry or use this as any kind of measuring stick for what you will see in the playoffs.

            Nobody has to chill...

But, that doesn't mean the game meant anything...if the game meant something, why did Roethlisberger, Bell, Brown, and Harrison sit?
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Look, it's obvious that the outcome of the game meant nothing in the playoff seeding. I get that. And that the team decided (wisely) to hold out some of their stars to prevent them from getting hurt. I get that.

But doggone it, you step on that field to play, you'd better be playing to win. A half-ar$$$ed effort breeds nothing good, especially with these younger players. The fact that a couple of players are calling their teammates out confirms that there's a problem. If the team comes out flat against the Dolphins, you'll be surprised, but I won't.

NorthCoast is right ... this team still needs to establish their identity.

If the game didn't mean anything, why are DeCastro and Shazier saying what they're saying?

Obviously, the game meant nothing in terms of playoff seeding. And Ben, Bell, Brown and Harrison were pulled to keep them from getting hurt before the playoffs. I understand that. What I don't understand is the crappy attitude and crappy effort by the players who took the field. That's not something you want to see with a team that hasn't really proven anything yet, and it leads to nothing good.

These guys coming out and saying certain units didn't play well is just a way to protect the young guys. Your not going to single guys out, so you have your leaders step up and take the blame as a unit. I agree with Slapstick, if this game meant anything at all to the team, then they would be playing their best guys.

Lmao... this is great. While I don't think it's that serious I love how guys like Decastro and Shazier are stepping up and setting a standard.

Crappy attitude? I didn't see all that. Just saw a Defense play vanilla and an offense play with a bunch of backups vs a team trying hard as hell to get a second win.

Decastro and Shazier are speaking up because they have been given the challenge of being leaders and this is what leaders do.

I definitely wouldn't read into it to much. This is like Dez Bryant ripping his team for their loss to the Eagles.

That might be true for DeCastro, but if you read what Shazier said, that's not what he was doing.

Were they really flat or just playing a very vanilla zone scheme like in a preseason game.

Hooray for Shazier. I'm fine with him ripping players and challenging them to play better but I'm not going to buy those wolf tickets at face value.

I honestly feel like ripping players like this is also going through the motions. Someone has to do it though so might as well be Shazier and Decastro.

Ya, I still think that's what he was doing, he is just trying to keep up the intensity going into the playoffs. He said, "guys bought into the line that the game was meaningless", well of the course they did because it was meaningless and this was reinforced by the team sitting all the star players.
