    I'm Not Convinced...

...that the Steelers game planned a lot for the Browns this week...

I think they just recycled November's game plan and worked on Miami and/or KC...

They'll never admit it, but this game meant nothing...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

My feelings exactly. They put alot of dumb plays on tape for opponents to consider but there is no way they were fully invested in pulling out a result until the end. Reminded me of an NBA game.

Maybe if this past week some greybeard ex-player would've publicly called the HC a cheerleader, they'd have given a better effort.

They definitely didn't go all out until the end of the 4th Quarter on Defense.

The Steelers never gave up a "go ahead TD" in the fourth quarter of this game...

Shazier calls out teammates for poor attitude about Browns' game.

If past form holds true, they may well carry the same "no problem, we're the better team, we got this, we can always come-from-behind" attitude into the Miami game.

No difference whatsoever between a win-or-go-home playoff game and no-benefit-between-winning-and-losing week 17.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Them winning or losing will come down to game plan and execution. These are pros, there's no convincing me taking a team lightly in the playoffs exists.

Yeah, today's game was meaningless ... no reason for any Steelers to play to win at all.

                    Guess they should've just forfeited.

And Shazier's comments were meaningless too ... just blowing smoke, I guess.

I mentioned this in another thread, people seem to confuse trying at all with giving the 100% leave it on the field effort no matter what the cost. The browns second TD would've been blown up by Mitchell in any other scenario.
I'm trying to upload a screenshot but on my phone and not working properly. Mitchell had no need to risk his body on that and could've broke it up.

If we had a 90 man roster like we do in August, more than just Ben, Bell, Brown, and Pouncey would have been healthy scratches. The final score of today's game meant about as much as the results of preseason games.

Then Shazier is wrong to criticize his teammates?

Just like in a preseason game, you hold out some of your best players for injury prevention purposes, and your game planning is somewhat vanilla...You aren't going to put out all of the stops for a W. That doesn't mean that individual players aren't trying out there. Shazier's a prideful guy and an up-and-coming leader who is looking out for some of the younger guys on the team. That's fine. But it doesn't change the fact that the final score of this particular game was essentially meaningless.

Well yes and no, I think.

A young team needs to establish it's identity. Number 1, you don't lose at home, period. Number 2, you don't lose to a 1 win team regardless of the stakes in the game. I applaud Shazier for stepping up because that kind of voice on defense has been missing since Farrior retired. He's the playmaker, and it's fitting he speaks out (although he himself had a few misses today).
