My comment wasn't necessarily addressed at you, Cpt., or anyone in particular.

You're probably right, if Ben goes down, we lose. Same for most teams built around a franchise QB. And we have Bad Ben to worry about too.

With playoffs coming up though, personally, I'd like to see more excitement and less gloom and doom. And less personal attacks, and questioning other Steeler fans' motivations, etc

And I hate to see someone so worried and worked up that they don't have a chance to revel in the moment while they can!

We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!

I just have no faith in him. Last season I got exited when he had that one good game against AZ like everyone. But it was downhill after that and that stupid playoff pick killed it for me. One good game against the worst team in the league (yes, even playing with backups) does not change that.

I would love nothing better than have the kid prove me wrong but I am terrified of him right now.
Plenty of starting QB's have stupid playoff picks on their resume. It's foolish to hold Landry to a higher standard. Your hate isn't really with Landry, it's with the stupid decision to pass and take a 15 yard sack that forces a backup to come in after the game looked like it was over.

You dont really hate Landry, you hate that Ben always seems to be one sack away from an injury.

Landry just threw 3 TDs without Bell, AB, etc on the field and beat Cleveland. Why the hell is he getting bashed again? Lol...

I am to blame. I take responsibility for that. I started the post before the Landry magic happened.
Landry is one of those guys that can fool you into thinking he might be more than a backup. Then he lets you down with an awful showing. I've been through those emotions with him since he's been in the Burgh.

btw, Landry may have had more personal pressure this last game than the playoff game of you consider he was really auditioning for a new contract. Maybe he did just enough for someone to take notice.

All of which means he is a back up which we drafted him to be and should remain a back up for us.

He isn't getting starter money from anyone. Our coaches know what he can and cant do. Our players know what he can and can't do. Why would we want to bring in a unknown quantity who may not be as good a fit for what we do? He would have to learn the offense. The next shiny object isn't always gold.

I think the Steelers were hoping that he would turn into something better than a good backup quarterback, but that doesn't appear to be the case, so, hopefully, he remains a Steeler backup quarterback and can provide good enough quarterback play to win half or more of the games that Ben misses.

Absolutely correct. Same point many have be making but some won't listen to. No NFL team has 1a and 1b at QB

If Landry goes, he goes. He has been inconsistent, for sure...

If he signs elsewhere, then so be it...the Steelers have Mettenberger for at least another year...they can look for another backup if necessary...

If he decides to stay for backup money, then so be it...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

nah, I went in chat and typed FUGLY then left. It wasn't pretty for 3 qtrs but I think that was partially to being a meaningless game. The backlash by some after the game is a bit much. I think the expectations for a backup are unrealistic.

It it will be ugly, there will be INT's... that's just the way it is with most backups.

You have a point here. Ben gets hurt plenty.
THAT IS PRECISELY WHY THE BACKUP MATTERS.

Dizz, I ain't expecting Aaron Rogers.
                      Higher standard?
I just want better than 2 for 5 ELEVEN yards and a pick after 3 possessions. A glimmer of "hope" to get a single field goal?

Had we not recovered a fumble it was game over after that pick.

It might be "unreasonable" but yeah I hold him to a "higher standard".

Slappy, I was talking about the playoff game. 2 of 5 eleven yards and a pick in 3 possessions is his statline for that game. The context of this post is Dizz implying I hd an unreasonably high standard because I said THAT GAME is why I dont trust him even for limited play.

yup, this doesn't have anything to do with me or that Cleveland game. CP is scared we will keep him due to his 3 TD game without all our stars.

The guy had the nerve to have "hope" in our other back up who is 0-10 as a starter.

This would be a totally doable and appropriate contract for Jones so we keep an experienced back up

Matt Moore signed a 2 year, $3,550,000 contract with the Miami Dolphins, including a $750,000 signing bonus, $2,750,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,775,000. In 2016, Moore will earn a base salary of $1,000,000, a signing bonus of $750,000 and a workout bonus of $25,000. Moore has a cap hit of $1,400,000 while his dead money value is $1,775,000.
