Who started the, "it needs to stay in locker room"? Why? Someone's feelings going to get hurt? When I played I called people out where ever I was and wanted everyone who cared to hear me. I also wanted to be called out if I played like a punk. That's me though...

Can't have it both ways. This is the 'look at me', 'put it all out there', 'twitter this', 'twitter that', generation of young adults who post their every fart, belch, rant, etc. I don't think they would take much offense to the way the message was delivered..... 10 yrs ago?.. maybe.Comment

I hear you, but as far as I know, "Chastise in private, compliment in public" is by and large still the right way to manage. Maybe it's not, though! Can't have it both ways. Joe Greene was EXACTLY that way when he showed up to a horrid Steeler team. Cam is TAME by comparison. THAT kind of tell it like it is leadership built that team. I love that Cam takes a que from EASILY the best leader EVER on this team.sigpic

It doesn't remind me of Manning's comments at all. Manning threw the OL under the bus because it affected HIS play. Heyward was ripping the entire defense as a whole. Big difference. I'm sure if Heyward had been in the game, he would have included himself in the poor performance.Comment

There was nothing wrong with Peyton Manning answering a question honestly. These are grown men who get paid millions to play a game of football.
Its so stupid to get mad when players give honest assessments of the team. We all watched the game. If Ben gets sacked 8 times in a game what's the point of lying to us about why he was sacked?
peyton didn't throw his OL under the bus, he told the truth. They had protection issues. Pretty sure he said "we" had protection issues.
When the the offense struggled and the D was saving our behinds in 2008 Ben had harsh words for the offense. He said he was embarrassed because the D was saving the offense. Is that throwing the offense under the bus?
This is silly... the only time I think it's a problem is when a player criticizes or blames a unit he isn't a part of. Blaming the offense when you play D and vice versa.
I'm no Peyton fan but I always thought the blame he received for that quote was bogus.Last edited by feltdizz; 10-27-2016, 07:00 PM.Steelers 27

Cam Heyward replies to Ryan Shazier's 'garbage' comment with 'he was being kind'

It really feels like it is going to be a very long bye week for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Going into the bye on a two-game losing streak was bad enough. But losing the way they did on Sunday to the New England Patriots added a whole other layer to the misery. This was a sentiment first echoed by linebacker Ryan Shazier and punctuated by defensive end Cam Heyward.
When Heyward spoke to the media after the game he didn’t pull any punches about his disappointment in his defense. He was forced to watch from the sidelines as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. But not being on the field didn’t stop the team captain from expressing his distaste.
“We had momentum going [into that drive]. It was 20-16, and we let them get that. And it was like we just quit. I don’t mean to say that lightly, but I just felt like we had so many opportunities out there.”
Quit is a strong word. There’s no doubt that long touchdown to Rob Gronkowski was a gut punch, but even in the final analysis, this unit was worn down by the Patriots offense all game long.
“It’s not that I saw it from one person. I just thought we should have made more [of a] stance by the defense. And we let them run the ball. There’s too many times when he’s falling forward and that’s not what we’re accustomed to.”
This group now has two weeks to right the ship. Sitting at 4-3 with the Baltimore Ravens next up on the schedule, the Steelers defense has to get things cleaned up. The AFC North is down this season, which leaves that top spot vulnerable. With the short-term future of QB Ben Roethlisberger unknown, it is going to come down the defense to keep Pittsburgh on top.
