How is that sitting with the guys who were actually playing in the game and giving their all.
Hopefully it pisses them off and they play better.

Do do you feel like our defense gave their all? Cam is going to have a chance to play me show and prove. This far in his career he has been one of our best players on defense. I think he has earned a right to critique this defense.

Don't agree at all. It's his role as captain to speak out any time he feels is necessary to get the squad to play better. He's earned his chits. First games missed in 3 years. There is a standard that wasn't met and he wanted his teammates to know it. No problem with this leadership.

Let's turn the argument around. Would you be upset with Heyward if they played well and he wasn't in the game and yet he complimented them on a fantastic game?

I don't have any problem with what he said. He's a co-captain, so he has a right to speak up. Play or not.

This isn't the first time Heyward has criticized the defense. He's criticized the defense even in games where the Steelers have won and the D played relatively well. The guy is just a beast with high standards. It's his personality not to rest on laurels and to always find room for improvement. This is actually a good thing and as soon as Harrison retires, Hayward will become my new favorite Steeler (active).

I applaud it and I hope Butler took it as if his job performance is also lacking, though I doubt it. The young guys on the team needed to hear it.

No. I would expect the standard type answer. Something like the pats are a tough team and all but we have to find a way to hold them to less points.

Question. Who do you think quit?

Making accusations like that while you're watching from the sidelines can cause a divide in the locker room imo

It's a young team. Heyward knows what he can say that will not cause issues. Golden looked like he quit. Jarvis Jones was a bear all day until the end. They did look like they quit....

In the context of everything he said, I have no issue at all with it. Especially how he ended his rant. He's being a leader. I love it. And I hope he becomes one that everyone fears for a long time to come. There wouldn't be an issue with Joe Greene or James Harrison speaking their minds.

                        “We had momentum going in”

“It was 20-16, and we let them get that. And it was like we just quit. I don’t mean to say that lightly, but I just felt like we had so many opportunities out there.”

“I felt like our offense just had a great drive and I think we only got three points out of it, but I was like, ‘Let’s get off quick because their defense is tired.’ ”

“That [play by Gronk], I know he’s a great player, but that can’t be the end of it,” Heyward said. “I felt like after that, it was almost like the wind was pushed out of us.”

Linebacker Ryan Shazier said on Sunday that the Steelers’ run defense played like “garbage.” They allowed 362 yards rushing against them in their past two games, both losses. They had allowed an average of just 77 yards rushing through the first five games, which ranked fourth in the NFL. They are 16th today, allowing 106.7 per game.

“He’s being kind,” Heyward said of Shazier’s comment. “I would have used a different word. We can’t play like that as a defense. I think we’re close to 400 yards in rushing [the past two games]. That’s never been allowed here in two weeks. That’s just piss-poor technique. You have to have some pride when you’re out there.”

“It’s not that I saw it from one person. I just thought we should have made more [of a] stance by the defense. And we let them run the ball. There’s too many times when he’s falling forward and that’s not what we’re accustomed to.”

“I know we have a lot of guys [hurt], but guys have to step up, whoever’s out there. There can’t be a letdown when another guy goes down.”

“We just have to really buckle down and have a good defense and be technique sound. I would say in the beginning of the year, besides the Philadelphia game, we were playing pretty good. You see these past two games and you’re like, ‘Whoa, 200 yards for a running back and another 120.’ At least we should have responded better and not given up that.”

“We just have to re-energize, we have to see those mistakes we made. There are so many things we can work on individually that when we come back collectively it can benefit all of us. Whether it’s tackling or whether it’s ailments or injuries for each player. Just technique we can clean up and address the weaknesses we’ve had in the past.”

“We got to get better. I think we addressed it today. But I’m not going to be negative after this. You be negative in the moment but not afterward ... You be honest, move forward and try to correct it.”

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Right or wrong, play or no play, this needs to be kept in the locker-room.

it reminds me a bit when Manning through his OL under the bus after we beat them I the playoffs.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

A minority opinion, obviously, but one that I agree with.
