Great Eight (putting to rest the Bradshaw/Tomlin debate once and for all)
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Who's feeling good about this weekend?

                  And next weekend?

                  And 2 weekends after?

I sure am. It's not an easy path, but it's doable. The formula for success is still QB + D wins championships. It used to be the QB + the front 7 = SuperBowls. But with a base defense now of a front 6, we've got #7 + front 6 = SuperBowl 7. From a pure superstitious perspective, I wish we had a front 7.

Nonetheless, our front 6 is playing as good as they ever have this season. Tuitt, Hargrave, Deebo, Shazier, Timmons, and Bud are all peaking together and seemingly healthy. I think that bodes very well for us. Then we've got 26 and the OLine taking pressure off Ben because teams have to stop our running game and I really don't see anyone that can do that. That should create more opportunities for Ben down field.

I like the emergence of our young WRs and DBs. On offense, I think Ayers is my guy. Out of all the receivers who aren't AB, there seems to be something special about this kid. Same thing for Davis at S.

And that's not taking anything away from anyone else in either of those units or our TEs either who's collective games are pointing up.

On the one hand, a lot depends on the play and emergence of our young talent. On the other hand, we have enough pieces to the point where the only thing that I think can stop us is turnovers from our QB.

When I created this thread this year, it was the least confident I've been in our team's chances. At the same time I was most hopeful for the upside. I'm at the point where I think next year can definitely be our year. And I'm still hopeful this year can be too.

4 more weeks to go. 1 play at a time. Let's do this.

                  Onward to #7!

                          A wins a win.

Even if it takes 6 FGs and we're completely inefficient in the Red Zone.

Even if we give up an opening drive TD for the first time this season.

Even if we give up a critical TD late in the game.

There were a lot of good performances in the KC game. From our Oline to Bell to our D to our Kicker. Add in some key plays that were just enough by Ben, AB, etc. and we won a road game in a very difficult environment.

Our 9 game winning streak seems like we're just scraping by. Just doing enough to win. While it's maddening as a fan, it's building a bond for the team. We're becoming more and more battle tested by the week. Sometimes a blowout is bad for a team. It breeds overconfidence. It breeds complacency.

Not here. Not in Pittsburgh this week. Not heading to Foxboro. While no one is giving us a chance, we'll go back to the drawing board and come up with a plan. And I expect this team to do just enough once again to earn their spot in Houston.

Seems like insurmountable odds to a degree. Tom Brady and the Pats Offense won't self destruct and make mistakes. All of our weaknesses will be exposed. Bellichick and his D will make Ben a mere mortal. A bad road Ben is to be expected. Le'veon will probably have his toughest challenge to date. Despite how well the OLine is playing, expect NE's #1 priority - take out Le'veon and make Ben beat them. When I step back and look at this matchup on paper, it's a recipe for a complete disaster.

However, somehow, with our backs against the wall for many of these last 9 weeks, we've found a path to eke out a victory. Somehow, we pull out a little magic and make things work. Next Sunday may go down to the wire again for the Steelers, but somehow, I see them prevailing.

For all of NE's greatness, they aren't that good this year. Pittsburgh on the other hand is gritty. To put it in Rocky terms, this team has the eye of the tiger. I think they want it more. And I don't know how it's going to go down, but I know who will be heading to Houston with plans of hoisting #7.

                          Who ride?

The last team I can think of that won this many games just ekeing out enough for a win is the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes...

They ended up winning the NC in triple overtime...

If our Steelers can conjure up that kind of mojo and clutch play, I like our chances...

But the team WAS efficient enough to get in position 6 times for a field goal. KC had their chances but did not. We all like TDs but we have to give credit to the offense getting there that many times.

Holy Buckeye!!! That was a ballsy call that kept their season alive and this is the kind of drama we will win on this weekend! I just got goosebumps watching that one again.
