That is way off topic, I'd appreciate it if you'd please keep this thread on the OP subject - Manning and his legal issue with possible unethical behavior as a consequence.

I'd be very interested to hear more of your thoughts about Manning, Ben, etc. Would you be willing to start a new thread about that?

    Thanks -

Depends upon one's perspective. Teabagging a female trainer in a locker room vs fornication with a drunken 20 year old in a bathroom stall. Although both QB's have dirty hands I think that the smear campaign against the Manning victim is the big difference here.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

It'll be interesting to see how fast Papa John's and Nationwide drop the Forehead if this story gets widespread media exposure.

I know everyone has their own perspective, but I think there is a huge difference between the two, that difference being that if anything happened in Milledgeville it was consensual between two adults. The thing with Manning in the training room was basically assault. (And the fact that he did it to someone while they were administering medical care to him just puts that at an even sleazier level, if possible.)

The smear campaign that continued well into when Manning left college and "grew up" is what makes this so bad IMO. Anyone can do something pretty bad and stupid in college (and many have), and then never do anything but live upstanding lives after that. This intentionally ruining that lady's personal and professional life over two decades ... this deserves to come out and be covered in the press as a punishment for that, IMO.

Agreed. Except the discussion was of what Ben did vs. Manning, neither of which involved rape.

                  and both are bad IMO...

regardless of how it went down in GA after being put on notice it was a stupid thing to do.

No argument there. It's just careless for so many people to call it rape when it was clearly a false accusation of rape.

This is pure, wild speculation on my part (but hey, that doesn't make me too much different than the bulk of reporting going on these days) - This riff between Manning & the trainer actually started 2 years before the training room incident. It was Manning's first semester on campus. Both have said "something" happened but the record of that situation has been officially sealed by the court and redacted out of the published records. Neither party has ever spoken about it besides simple acknowledgement.

I wonder if he hit on her and she shut him down cold or laughed in his face (she was older and graduated and probably viewed him as a kid) . She was good looking. I'm guessing even at that age he wasn't used to hearing no all too often. So he harbors a grudge and then a couple of years later when he's BMOC he decides to teach her a lesson and try to humiliate her knowing he's got enough pull to get away with it. Which is essentially what happened.

I'd also add that the fact that he brought this up again in his book, even thought they'd both agreed on a gag order to never publicly discuss it, as well as bringing it up yet again in an ESPN documentary is a dark sort of vengefulness. I mean, almost no one knew about this other than it being a "prank" where he mooned someone and she saw it. He went out of his way to not only attack her needlessly years after the fact (twice) but to essentially defy a court order. That's a hell of a lot of entitlement.

I have no idea what really happened in that training room 20 years ago but he has only himself, his ego, and what appears to be a vindictive personality to blame for what's happening now.

                        I believe he did it...

pretty sure there was a guy or 2 who admitted to seeing him do it.

and for some reason Archie Manning needed to tell a ghost writer that the female trainer dates black guys... cause, you know, that has to mean she isn't to be trusted???

                        such a weird story.
