Could be wrong, but this is a dream matchup for the steelers. If he is the exact QB that the steelers dont need to face, then there truly was never any hope against actual good QBs
The point I'm making is that McCarron will complete a lot of passes without turning it over and keep the game close. This type of offense has been problematic for the Steelers even when their defense was considered great. The Steelers haven't been tackling well so the underneath stuff could be big plays with a missed tackle. Underestimating McCarron's skills will get them one and done.

all the steelers defense needs to do is look how other backup QB's have done against them this season. that should give them the proper reference point with regards to underestimating anyone.

The Steelers may be down to their third-string running back on Saturday against the Bengals.

DeAngelo Williams, who sprained his ankle on Sunday, is still in a protective boot and declined to say when it’s coming off, Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network reports.

Maybe Williams will heal quickly, but if he’s still in a boot on Wednesday, it seems like a long shot that he’ll be ready to play on Saturday. With Le’Veon Bell on injured reserve, the Steelers would be down to Jordan Todman and Fitzgerald Toussaint at running back against the Bengals if Williams can’t go.

After Bell went down early in the season, Williams led the team with 200 carries for 907 yards and 11 touchdowns. Neither Toussaint nor Todman did much this year; Toussaint had 18 carries for 42 yards and Todman had four carries for 22 yards, and neither of them caught a pass. Losing Williams could be a significant blow to the Steelers.

Williams is now out of the boot:

There's obviously a significant difference between being in a walking boot and being healthy enough to play running back in the NFL, but this is a positive sign.

Ben has been injured numerous times and has seen many of his teammates injured. He is well aware that injuries can cause a player to miss games. Nobody is going to question the toughness of 32-year-old DeAngelo Williams. If he is able to play he will. If he doesn't play, it's because he can't.

This is just speculation by this Smith writer, trying to bring something up. He did not even recgonize that Fitz caught 2 point conversion, not much to go on but it's not zero receptions. I think both of these guys will have at least one explosive run for some big yards.

DeAngelo Williams remains sidelined for Steelers

The Steelers practiced again on Thursday and running back DeAngelo Williams remained on the sideline.

Williams was injured in Week 17 against the Browns and was in a walking boot by the time the game ended with what was initially described as an ankle injury, but what the team is calling a foot issue. Whatever the exact nature of the injury, the concern about Williams’ availability to face the Bengals on Saturday remains high as long as he’s unable to get on the field.

Playing without Williams would force the Steelers to turn to the lightly used duo of Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman in the backfield for Wild Card weekend. While the Pittsburgh passing attack is a potent one, they’ll need their backs to provide some balance even if Williams isn’t able to go if they’re going to keep a strong Bengals defense from loading up to stop them through the air.

The Steelers are otherwise healthy heading into Saturday. Safety Will Allen didn’t practice Thursday, but it was a rest day and everyone else on the 53-man roster was a full participant.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

DeAngelo Williams out Saturday, could play next weekend

The Steelers will be down to their third-string running back on Saturday in Cincinnati.

DeAngelo Williams will miss tomorrow’s game against the Bengals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. That leaves the Steelers, who already have Le’Veon Bell on injured reserve, down to Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman at running back.

That means the Steelers have a big question mark at running back. Toussaint had 18 carries for 42 yards and Todman had four carries for 22 yards, and neither of them caught a pass. The Steelers just don’t know how Toussaint and Todman will play as the primary running backs in the offense, because neither has done it yet.

The good news for the Steelers is that Williams’ foot/ankle injury appears to be healing well enough that he could play next week. If the Steelers win tomorrow at Cincinnati, they’ll play next on Sunday, January 17 at Denver.

But getting to Denver will be harder with Williams on the sideline.

Again, Fitz Toussaint caught a pass...it was the 2 pt conversion try...

How do we win this game with Redman-caliber running back? Pretend to run in first quarter until the 1.5 yds/carry becomes too much of a liability, then hope Roethlisberger can make 50 throws without an INT.
