Deangelo playing (well) isn't something I'm even considering. What they need to do, is trust their evaluations and give Touissant the rock 20 times. You know CIN is not expecting us to rely on the kid. Imagine if he gives us an Isaac Redman-like performance?

I think conventional thinking has Ben coming out firing--for which they're ready. What they don't expect, is a Frenchy named guy to run the ball at them from the get-go.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

It's the little things that moved Toussaint past Todman on the depth chart:

      http://www.steelers.com/news/article-1/Breaking-down-the-tape-Fitzgerald-Toussaint/c25c5e5a-8f9a-4153-9cde-81b9ce1907f3

Second-and-5 from the Cleveland 35-yard line, second quarter: Toussaint recognizes an overload from the left side of the defensive formation on a four-man rush and is there to meet LB Christian Kirksey as Kirksey comes hard around OT Marcus Gilbert, who is otherwise engaged. Toussaint’s ability to force Kirksey wide helps provide the time for QB Ben Roethlisberger to find WR Antonio Brownfor an 18-yard gain to the Browns’ 17.

Second-and-10, Cleveland 17, second quarter: Toussaint reads a five-man pressure and zeroes in on LB Karlos Dansby, who is driving C Cody Wallace into the backfield after walking up to the line of scrimmage and timing the snap count. Toussaint hits Dansby from Dansby’s left and Dansby hits the deck. Roethlisberger hits Brown for a 17-yard touchdown.

Two-point conversion, fourth quarter: Toussaint flares out of the backfield to Roethlisberger’s left and heads toward LB Paul Kruger, who has crept a couple of steps past the line of scrimmage after the snap. Toussaint achieves separation by blasting into Kruger and then cutting hard to his right. Toussaint is wide open when Roethlisberger spots him in the end zone.

      ...

Toussaint also put a hustle play on tape in the Browns game by tracking down LB Craig Robertson at the end of a 38-yard interception return to the Steelers’ 9.

Second-and-8, Steelers’ 40, third quarter: After initially chipping LB Nate Orchard on the way to the left flat, Toussaint has to work his way around Dansby upon beginning to pursue Robertson after the change of possession. Robertson navigates his way around or past G Ramon Foster, Gilbert, WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, TE Heath Miller and Wallace before Toussaint finally catches him along the far sideline just inside the Steelers’ 10 and makes what might have been a touchdown-saving tackle.
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Now we have a Frenchy 3rd string RB behind Le'Veon and DeAngelo.
Back in the day, we had a Frenchy 3rd string RB behind Franco and Rocky.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Least 3 and outs is surprising. Especially with all the bitching we hear about "whyyyy are they throwing long on 3rd and short".

Nope. I'm fine with just Heath at TE with Brown, Bryant, and Wheaton at WR, and whoever is healthy at RB. Does replacing Martavis Bryant with Matt Spaeth make our offense better? Nope. Does replacing Markus Wheaton with Jesse James make our offense better? Nope. Going 3 wide all the time forces the opposing defense to be in their nickel or dime package all game long, and we can run against that front without needing extra inline blockers. Bringing in Spaeth means they can change personnel, bringing in an extra LB instead of a CB, and that just mucks everything up inside, ultimately making it more difficult to run. No thanks. Just play our best players...and run or pass out of our optimal personnel grouping. I only want to see Spaeth or James out there on special teams and if old man Miller needs a breather. The less multiple TE sets the better in my eyes.

I would want to see James in the red zone...or maybe even between the 20s on occasion...

Would having a 6' 7" James on the field in the red zone instead of Wheaton make us a better offense? Maybe...

Would having a 6' 7" James on the field vs. a defense that gave up 20 catches to Heath Miller make us a better offense? Maybe...

I dont know why every time I mention having 2 TEs on the field I get bombarded like I said thats the only package they should be in. "mucking everything up" takes away their ability to triple bracket on brown (not that it works great anyway). All of their linebackers are putrid in coverage. The more they need Kirkpatrick to try and keep up with brown and the more they have Burfict and Maualuga try to run with anyone, the better.

If they just go 3 wide and fail to run the ball with toussaint effectively, which is certainly a possibility (we are widely assuming toussaint will be the guy, maybe a bit premature) it would be nice to exploit their main weakness in coverage backers because nelson/kirk/pacman/hall are all decent cover DBs.

So yes, replacing wheaton with James or spaeth could situationally make the offense better. If they want to cover james and heath with a linebacker thats a mismatch. If they want to stay small and keep their cover guys on the field, that opens up the door to get a run game going..

Its not black and white on what they should do...if they can get both a passing and run game going out of 3 wide, like they have done pretty well this year, that is wonderful. But its also nice to notate where the bengals show the most weakness on defense and how one could exploit that if need be.

You always expect brown on the field, but i think they have a nice thing going with the rotation of DHB/Wheaton/Bryant. They do a good job at creating the matchups they want for those guys and getting brown moved around. They obviously see something with heath miller and how the bengals play him since he has more catches in 2 games vs them than he does in any other 3 games combined this season

How is DW at blocking ... better than Frenchy Fitz?

Assuming he can even take the field, I would guess that DW's knowledge of the playbook would make him more valuable than Touissaint, even if his skill set was diminished in terms of carrying the ball.

Bucs firing Lovie could be bad news for us. Thats going to be a coveted job with Jameis, Evans, and Martin as a foundation to the offense. They were #4 in total offense with a defensive coach.
