Who else could it be on? I don't really think Archer can catch... nor does he have any route-running acumen. Otherwise, what is stopping him from becoming an Edelman or Danny Woodhead or Dion Lewis or any of the other little $h!ts that Belicheat* brings in and makes into a star. Welker too.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

It's Tomlin's fault for playing two first team All-Pros (Brown and Bell) and having another explosive player emerge last season (Bryant).
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Archer is not an NFL football player. That's why he didn't get more of a chance. Stopwatch speed in shorts is all he has and he was given enough chances to show that he doesn't belong on the roster.

Not sure I've ever seen a player who did sh!t nothing for the Steelers get so much love. He got plenty of opportunity through 2 preseasons and a season and a half of football that counts. Know why he didn't get an "opportunity" to return punts? Because he couldn't do it. Or maybe he could but the entire coaching staff never thought once about trying it out in practice to see . Of course he got opportunity. He failed. To think otherwise means you believe the coaches purposefully didn't put a player on the field who was capable of success.

The offense struggle mightily the last 2 games b/f the raiders. Barely scoring. But Coach Haley willfully chose not to use a 'weapon' who could break the game open? That's just insane.

Archer is no longer a Steeler. Time to move on.

It's pretty much always a distraction if you have to develop "special" plays for your useless gadget player. Archer was a wasted pick, a terrible reach that should never have happened. It's not his fault. The very idea of drafting him or any similar player at that spot was boneheaded.

Putting Archer on the field during a regular down screams "gadget player in for trick play." Yeah, you could attempt to use him as a decoy, but you've already got the defense on high-alert by his very presence.

Better to just call a normal play where the ball is given to a normal player pretty much every damn time.

If you are going to draft a guy in that spot, he has to be able to contribute as, at the very least, a change of pace / third down back. With his inability to block and his size limitations, Archer couldn't be that guy.

A look at the players taken immediately after Archer stings. Devonta Freeman really stings, but so do names like Richard Rogers and Crocket Gilmore.

Of course, it could be worse. The Jets took 2 WRs in the 4th before the Steelers selected Martavis - neither is on the team.

if we drafted Freeman and only gave him touches on KR's fans would scream wasted pick if he never got past the 30. What if we drafted Freeman and he was treated like Sammie Coates?

My point.. we will never know until we put guys in a position to succeed.

Now, some think KR and 2 touches every 5th game is enough but imagine if we shelved Bryant after his first drop as a WR? Hell, it took 6 games before we gave him a chance.

Like you said, it could be worse... hind site is def. 20/20

there was no hindsight for a number of fans that said from day 1 it was a terrible pick.
the hindsight is coming from the 'fans' that declared him a steal and how d coordinators were gonna lose sleep trying to game plan for him
