lol no kidding. He was left wide open on the TD pass. I have yet to see anything preseason or now that lets me think he is more than a #2. He will have to show me a whole lot more before I think he can fill Millers cleats.

I agree. but i also think the kid has a basic size/skill set that bodes well - and i'm pretty sure miller is the type of team player who will mentor JJ and help him achieve his potential. in other words, he's got everything going in his favor to BE the replacement for #83.

I certainly don't doubt his athletic ability. But, I'll reserve my praise for when he does something of substance.

He has that upside that is intriguing to many of us. He had a good camp but had a few drops in the pre-season. Frankly we do not yet know just what he will become however there have been some flashes of ability and since Spaeth is serviceable at best no reason to believe he couldn't work his way into the 2 spot on the roster in the not to distant future.

            another good late rounder.
I think James could be really really close to being as good as Heath

He's a better blocker now than Spaeth was early in his career. Spaeth was a rag doll before he bulked up.

yes, he has the size and looks like he has soft hands...

even if he isn't as good as Heath I think he can replace Heath in this offense and do well.

I would like to see how he moves in the open field after the catch.

Completely agree with this sentiment. He is a prototypical Steeler tight end, good size, can block in line and appears he can catch. As he matures he can become the same security blanket for Ben/next quarterback that Heath has been for Ben.

I know he had a couple good RAC in the preseason and put a licking on a DB on one of them. Of course he also had some first game jitters with a couple drops. Been solid every since though
