Injured Steelers LB Ryan Shazier bothered by worthless criticism

http://www.steelersdepot.com/2015/10/injured-steelers-lb-ryan-shazier-bothered-by-worthless-criticism/

Somebody needs to tell this idiot that it is those people who are criticizing (because they care about the team) WHO PAY HIS BILLS. If people didn't care to comment, he wouldn't make the money he makes and enjoy the life he lives.

He also needs to realize that just because 0% of fans could play NFL football, doesn't make their opinion here any less worthwhile. AGAIN--they pay his salary... He should be happy people care at all! Second, if he wasn't 6-2, 230 lbs. with fast-twitch, guess what Ryan--you wouldn't be able to play either! You didn't build those skills out of nothing. You were BLESSED with those abilities, just like you didn't choose to have your baldness disease. And BTW, since you don't have any chance of growing hair, does that preclude you to talk about how gawdawful a hair-do is? Absolutely not.

STFU, and recognize that you have been injury-prone, respect the fact that opinions drive your salary, and play football.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Seriously dude? He's a kid all things considered. He's allowed to be bothered by the criticism. Great thread, will read again.

It's odd how quickly fan can turn on players. The man is hurt. I will never understand why fans feel the need to haggle players. I'd turn off the social media if I were him. I kind of feel sorry for the generation of players and fans that feel the need to be apart of the twitter, facebook, ect. A lot of times that ish kills brain cells.

Sorry, I don't share your opinion. Fact is, Shazier has been injured for as many games as he has played.
You can argue whether he deserves criticism for being hurt, but he certainly hasn't earned the multi-millions he is being paid. That is the frustration fans are dishing. The only chance at getting cut a break is if he was an undrafted free agent making league minimum... in that case you might hear crickets.

What purpose does it serve to kick him while he is down? Are any players worth the money they are paid?

It doesn't seem like fans are frustrated because hasn't earned his money. It seems people attack him because he is injured. Injuries can't be controlled. I don't know why fans like to attack players. Are those fans bullies, thrive on negativity, missing something in their own lives, or something else?

I don't see what purpose it serves to kick him while he is down. I'd say support and patience for his current situation would be better for him. He needs to stop responding to the idiots on twitter and where ever else.

Mostly disappointed that a guy with his potential and has flashed is on the sideline constantly holding a clipboard is my feeling. Would most who disagree reevaluate their thinking if this is a continued thing for him?

There have been some slights towards Shazier even handed out by Steeler staff. So, sounds like the criticism starts in house. The one thing about not having a significant history of injury in college is...you have no idea if a guy will play through pain. I would venture a guess the Steelers start at least 20 guys weekly with some dings and pain.
Trolls are people too.

It must really suck to be a first round NFL draft pick. Such an unfair life indeed.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

Wrong!!! Fan opinions are worthless because they are from individuals who don't have complete facts. Guess what, NFL TV contracts pays his salary not fans. The amount of revenue directly from fans is miniscule.

Yes, because fans have zero percent chance of playing in the NFL it does make their opinions worthless because they have no idea what is really going on. The difference is some fans actually recognize their opinions mean nothing which is why they are shared on message boards to other fans who opinions while interesting mean nothing. If they meant anything the Steelers would be asking and mionitoring which I assure you they never will.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

NFL TV contracts are paid for by advertisers, who only make money if eyeballs are watching games on TV. Those eyeballs belong to fans.

They could ban fans from attending games and still make a metric ****ton of money.

I can understand fans criticizing Bell for the games he missed this year. Missing games due to suspension is his fault.

I can understand fans criticizing Bryant for the games he missed this year. Missing games due to suspension is his fault.

I can't understand fans criticizing Shazier for the games he missed this year. Missing games due to injury is not his fault.

Are those same fans criticizing Ben for missing games due to injury as well?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

You have to remember he's just a kid and it's only a game, criticizing a guy because he is injured is ridiculous, there is nothing he can do about it. Please spare me the "you are blessed" garbage, he did build those skills, he put in the workouts, he did the dieting, he put in the practices, he wasn't given magical powers. Also fan criticism does not fuel his salary, the only criticism that has any effect on his salary is that of the coaches and the GM because they decide wether or not he plays and how much he gets paid.

Whether it's fair or unfair when a player is constantly injured, particularly a first rounder collecting a big paycheck, it's sometimes becomes a natural perception to see that player as a malingerer. I'm sorry that RS isn't happy about it but you can't always change other people's perceptions.
Obviously the standard is the standard.
