"Butler Ball" is getting it done

It is a refreshing change to see how Butler is playing attack football and not calling games scared. It was something woefully missing the past several years.

Heyward and Tuitt are beasts. I love how they are getting turned loose to get the QB and that ability isn't being wasted.

Linebackers are doing well. Timmons is a rock. At least for last night's game, Jones finally looked like the player we hoped for when we drafted him. Dupree seems to already be the player we hoped for when we drafted Jones proving that if given a chance rookies can play and contribute. When Shazier gets well this unit will just get better.

Secondary scares the heck out of me with mediocre talent and injuries but job is getting done...barely.

Butler has been exceptional thus far and excited about the future once he gets all the pieces. A Steelers defense should be aggressive and attacking and Butler gets it.

Like I have said a thousand times, It all comes down to rushing the passer. Our secondary has gone from "These guys are the worst ever", to "Theses guys are pretty good" because we are all over QB's.

Butler is running circles around. .... never mind don't want to start trouble.

Heyward was driving his guy back all night long. Looked really strong. And Tuitt had a play were it was a quick dump off and he turned around and hustled down field after the guy. Great motor.

Change is good. A fresh perspective and view never hurts.

D stats were great. It's been a while, and what's better is that their arrow has been pointing up game after game.

Thing is, how highly rated was the SD O line? And how good is the Cardinal O line supposed to be?

Because the only way our DBs don't get exposed for what skill they have is by making sure the opposing QB had happy feet. That's the only way we're going to win games while Ben is out, imo.

Coaching matters. The only things different this year are a worse secondary and the playcalling/scheme. D allowed 13 net points last night. Who cares about yards, which the rules are set up to hemorrage.

It is why you should never give a coach "tenure." To be successful you have to produce everyday not live in the past or try to recreate the past. Past achievements are for the past.

No, they're still pretty awful. But they're not being exposed because Butler is scheming pressure, something LeBeau was unable to do for years.

                      Troy Aikman disagrees.

Pressure happens when the opponents are almost out of healthy O-lineman. Our OLB's still are having trouble shedding blocks (all FOUR of them- Not just Jones). We still can't cover a TE.
Two weeks in a row we've been up against offensive lines that have had line issues. This week will be a challenge. Of all the teams we've played, Arizona has the best line.

Blah blah blah , if the offense wasn't so inept and gassing out the defense that would be three straight dominant performance from the D. When was the last time our defense had 5 straight 3 and outs from a franchise QB ? It certainly wasn't from DL in the last couple of years . And the only thing that have changed is the DC.

I agree about the Offensive Lines. SD's front 5 was/is awful. We took advantage of that. I do like that new blitz package he's come up with, however, they are running it so many times, that QB's have figured it out. They mentioned that last night- For example, after Brady seeing it 3 or 4 times, he recognized it, and hit Gronk on that long play. Rivers saw it later too, and had a big play. Butler's on the right track- heck, he learned from some of the best, let's hope he can be even more innovative in his blitzes as the season wears on. Dupree has been a nice surprise.
