I'll also ask you - what is it your'e arguing about? This was a bad pick. The guy lasted 4 games and got cut. I'm not some troll or Steelers hater for pointing out they made a bad choice to bring in a guy who's talent arrow was pointing down and his terrible team was cutting him.
Steelers sign a new kicker

I was ok with the Scobee trade at the time. I thought the price was a bit steep, but I suspect that the Steelers gave a 6th in exchange for the salary relief that they got from the Jags. Given the amount of teams with kicking issues, if he was released, he probably would have been picked up.Then you should have just posted that if you weren't trying to be a dick.
And I stand by what I said. In this deal the Steelers got swindled. The 3-13 Jags we're going to cut their horrible kicker within a few days but instead found a way to to finagle a draft pick. Steelers look like chumps. Why didn't they just bring in the FA they just signed this week in the first place instead of losing a draft pick and a game in the process. It's ok to admit the screwed up in this particular instance.
I'm guessing that they went to Scobee first to avoid entering the season with an entirely untested kicker. Given the expectations for this team, it's hard to fault that move. Unfortunately, it didn't work out, and it turned out to be an almost unmitigated disaster.Comment

Josh Scobee now says he was hurt in Steelers’ costly loss

If the playoffs started today, the Steelers would miss out on a tiebreaker. If they had beaten the Ravens in Week Four, they’d have a one-game lead in the wild card race. And if they had known heading into that Ravens game that kicker Josh Scobee was hurt, they might have won that game.
Scobee missed two field goals in the fourth quarter of a game the Steelers lost to the Ravens in overtime, and he now says he got hurt in practice the day before that game but didn’t tell the team.
“I’m just now healthy enough to where I’m open to going to a new team,” Scobee told the Florida Times Union. “No one really knew about it [the injuries] because I just didn’t talk about it. After I got released, I didn’t talk about it.”
Scobee told the team that he only had a “tweak” of his leg. If the Steelers had known he was injured badly enough that he simply couldn’t be counted on, they surely would have signed another kicker, and likely would have won the game against the Ravens.
“They didn’t know much about it,” he said. “I think they would have made the same decision [about cutting him]. It’s unfortunate, but things happen for a reason.”
Scobee is hoping to return to the NFL. If he does, he’d be wise to be forthright with his next team if he’s too hurt to kick accurately.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

Agent: Scobee didn’t hide condition, is now 100 percent

In response to an article with quotes from free-agent kicker Josh Scobee creating the impression that Scobee had an injury he concealed from the Steelers, Scobee’s agent tells PFT that Scobee hid nothing from his former team.
“During his final week in Pittsburgh, the leg was really worn out since he had been kicking quite a bit extra in practice to get familiar with [a] young rookie holder,” agent Ken Harris said via email. “He certainly didn’t hide it, and brought up that it needed a little rest. It’s no one’s fault that the short week [before the Thursday night game against the Ravens] exacerbated it into a strain, which he later rehabbed with a former Jags trainer for weeks after the release.”
Harris reiterated Scobee’s explanation that he’s now healthy and ready to kick again.
“Even though Josh alerted them early in the week that his leg was very worn and needed a rest day after weeks of work with the young holder, we understood when that didn’t happen due to the short week,” Harris said. “As he predicted, it felt more strained in pregame and during the game. Again, no one was a bad guy. These things happen.”
Harris added that the Steelers handled the situation properly, and that Scobee will exercise his right to seek termination pay from the Steelers, ensuring that he’ll get the balance of his $2.5 million base salary. Scobee will be entitled to keep any money that he earns elsewhere this season, if he ultimately earns any money elsewhere this season.

Yes..the trade for Scobee looked good at the time..but it turned out for the worst for the Steelers. But at the same time, it's been a blessing...because they wouldn't have found or had interest in signing Boswell.
I hope Boswell comes back next season..competes and beats out Suisham (even if Suisham is still under contract). Boswell has earned my trust.2022 NFL Mock Draft

Wow 2.5 million for nothing. For costing the Steelers an important game. I wonder how much Boswell is making. He has been a real find. I like the rotation of his kicks. No hook or fade, they track very straight. Suisham is a really good guy but Boswell is the man going forward.Agent: Scobee didn’t hide condition, is now 100 percent

Glass is always half full. Boswell was a good add. Interesting what they do with regards to Suisham who has been a good player for the team. Competition between the two or just go with the lower priced Boswell?Yes..the trade for Scobee looked good at the time..but it turned out for the worst for the Steelers. Looking forward to seeing Suisham and Boswell battle it out next year.
Boswell has positioned himself amongst the top kickers in the game. Not to mention he is no spring chicken either. Ten year difference between Suisham and Boswell.
It will be fun to see if Suisham can knock him off.
The team is in a good spot at this position. No matter what, the Steelers win.
I will be rooting for Boswell. Great kicker with an agreeable salary.Comment
