      Vick was 19 of 26 73% comp. 124yds and a td (should of been 2 td's), I don't see why he couldn't hit a 5 yard out.

        25. Thursday flashback: Doesn't it seem like Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley is trying to prove he is smarter than the other coach rather than calling the best play for his team sometimes?

Sometimes the fans make it harder than it needs to be.

Vick was stepping in, first start, with little time from Ben's injury to starting Thursday night to be 'ready' to run this offense. That said, his completion rate was impressive, his 126 yards would have been more + 1 extra TD if Brown makes the catch & we'd all be jumping up & down about having the best #2 QB in the NFL.

Bell was back to being Bell. No more to add there.

The offense was chugging along, certainly not in Ben-mode, but effective enough to win the game.

There were a couple of calls that didn't work- but running Vick on 4th down- I was good with that. That's his greatest strength, the playbook right now is not. Why not at least try & see if he could create magic? The blocking out there on that play was awful. But that happens.

Then on the other 4th down he misses Brown- bad throw.

          So is that Vick's fault?

          Tomlin's?

          Haley's?

          No.

The coaches lost confidence in the guy, the veteran guy, who they traded for, who has 1 job. Scobee.

If Scobee had ever shown he could be reliable, Vick doesn't need to try & make 4th down plays.

Haley doesn't need to get tricky.

Tomlin doesn't need to run with his gut.

If the kicker does his job, kicks either of the 2 FG's he misses, then every 'bad play' that apparently cost the Steelers is null & void.

It's not that hard. The Special Teams, in particular Josh Scobee, let the team down.

Everything else was a result of that.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

          Light up the darkness.

Not sure if this was brought up, but the offense was 2-13 on 3rd downs in that game. I suspect that is not good enough to win many NFL games.

As some of us have said, there are several areas in which the Steelers need to work to improve going forward. If they get a better kicker, that will be good, but not good enough to get them where they want to be. There are going to be games this year where they will need better offensive execution to win...and/or better offensive playcalling...and/or better run defense...and/or better decision-making from the HC. Etc.

Turnovers are the number 1 indicator of a win vs a loss. All things equal 3rd down % is the second indicator of a win vs a loss.

The Steelers won the turnover battle. Based on that they had a high % chance to win vs the Ravens. Unfortunately, Scobee let down the team. Other "mistakes" can off set the norms.

2 for 13 pretty much erased the turnover advantage unles those TO's were pick 6's.

2 for 13 pretty much implies we did nothing with those turnovers besides burn clock or flip the field.

The Steelers had a 20-7 2nd half lead at home vs. a crippled team. Pinning it 100% on Scobee is like whistling past the graveyard, pretending there is nothing else wrong.

If Scobee makes one of those kicks, the Steelers win and he still has a job. Period.

Right, it's guaranteed because neither would have changed Baltimore's approach on offense.

How about if Haley and Tomlin don't turn the ball over to Vick for three straight series after it was 20-14 , the Steelers win, and Scobee is never in position to kick those. Period.

If you are right, the Steelers just "fixed" their problem by hiring a guy who has never kicked in an NFL game.

                              Neat.
