I liked the way Butler moved our CBs up to get on the line. It seemed to slow Marcia down. Lack of talent, and lack of cohesion from a new team. Also, one of the gronk td passes was all but a pic play, IMO. Good scheming on the cheat's part.

There were mistakes and such, but I am glad that the 10 yard LeBeau cushion was turned off before the second half.

Based on the offensive production both passing/running this loss had nothing to do with missing players. They didn't miss a beat. It was about the defense and coaching. When the announcer is pointing out how horrible clock management was both to end the half and when reaching the 2 minute warning..you know it's a problem area. Because for them to call out their golden boy Tomlin means it's glaringly obvious and just needs to be said. Steelers are not well coached at HC and DC. They should beat some scrub teams but any team with a good QB should be able to handle our D. It will require scoring 30 points in order for us to beat playoff teams.

He's a hell of a coordinator. Lots of young head coaches fail their first time in that capacity.

Their defense was horrid against us. The only difference in defense was we missed 2 field goals and had a foot out of bounds on a touchdown. We should have dropped 30 somethin on them EASY. NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THEIR DEFENSE. They got run rover all night by an over the hill backup running back, and got mauled by a backup center, and made our bust of a backup receiver look like a legit star.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Deangelo williams wasn't running like an over the hill tailback. Bad defense or not.

As the second oldest back in the league he was over the hill for the last two seasons. That's why he costs us the equivalent of a ham sandwich and a bag of Cheetos. The fact that he doesn't LOOK over the hill is a function of the opposition.

Pats D is in transition. It's probably the worst they will look all year. DW dropped a bunch of weight and when healthy behind a good line is a legit RB in this league.

That's no excuse though. This is a yearly thing, where we struggle the first game of the season. It has to say something (i.e. poor preparation for a game you know about for months).

I will agree with someone earlier, who said Lebeau would've got torched for 40 too. It is disconcerting also, to know that our front 7 didn't do much against an o-line that started three rookies.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Especially when he wasnt covered on 1, had a 3rd string backup LBer cover him on another & a physically lacking Will Allen try on another i'd say coaching had a lot to do with it..
They had no answer for Edelman or the picks being set.
Lack of preparation and don't know if Lake has worn out his welcome either.
Tell me how it would look any different if the steelerettes were supposed to, and told to, lose the game.

By "being fine" he meant that they'll make money for the rooneys.

Believe it or not I felt pretty good about the Steelers last night. Yes, there were times the Steelers D looked lost and made mistakes. It seems like we kept shooting ourselves in the foot on both sides of the ball. But, what I seen was an OL without Pouncey blowing holes into that Pats D I could run through. We were without Bryant and Bell yet still moved the ball up and down the field. The D looked bad at times but I seen Shazier looking really good and honestly I expected us to look worse.

I really do believe by midseason this team will be playing really good ball.

Not to mention the stupid WR pass on the first drive. There are a number of teams who would have beaten NE last night. They aren't very good, at least not now. They won because they were smart enough to work matchups in their favor, while the Steelers blindly stuck to their plan against "nameless, gray faces".

Coaching matters, we ain't got none.

Well...yeah, pretty much that's what I expected all along. And I think the offense will be able to score 30 regularly come playoff time with Bell, Bryant, and Pouncey back. While the offense last night shot itself in the foot on numerous occasions, you could see the ability for the team to be able to move the ball at will much of the time even with those aforementioned limitations. I think as the season goes on, we'll gel further and be able to convert many of those drives into TD's rather than 40-something yard FG attempts.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
