Steelers surprise, especially most of this board, and win by at least 6. Blitzes get to Brady and offense exploits the Patriots defense.

      I hope Ovi is right.

I predict a relatively slow start for both teams but the cheaters finding their groove before we do and winning by more than a TD. I also won't be surprised to see the cheaters go right down the field on the first series for a TD but then stall until late in the 2nd quarter.

Competitive in the first half. Still in the game in the 3rd. Cheaters pull away in the 4th with our weak D gasping for air.

I too hope that Ovi is correct, but if I had to put my money on the game, I'm going Belechick/Brady over the Steeler defense rather than Tomlin/Roethlisberger over the Pats defense. Both defenses leave much to be desired, but the Pats defense will make enough plays for the Pats to win by 10, 33-23.

The Steelers' offense missing Bell, Pouncey and Bryant makes them less dynamic and Brady has been able to make less than stellar WR corps look good over theyears.

27-23 Steelers win. We stop a late 4th and 6 to the surprise of everyone.

Other random prediction based on a gut feeling - Brady is hurt and lost for a good portion of the season in one of their first 4 games. Just feels like a karma thing.

Ben's boxscore: 435 yards passing, 29/35 completions, 4TD/1INT. D Williams scores a rushing TD and gains 89 yards on the ground. AB gains 145 yards through the air and scores 2 TDs. Oh, and Steelers win. *crosses fingers*

Tom Brady has something to prove and that's scary.

Having one of the best offenses in the league is scary too if you have to play the Steelers. AFTER Week 2 that is. And especially after Week 4.

With the Steelers Defense lacking pass rush, I just don't see how the Steelers compete down 2 of their top 3 offensive weapons.

I won't give an actual score prediction, but rather offer some rays of hope for our team, who many think are doomed because of an inexperienced defense and without Bell, Bryant, and Pouncey.

Although I like their front 7, outside of FS Devin McCourty, New England's secondary doesn't appear to be any better than the Steelers right now, which is certainly saying something, given all the hand-wringing about our secondary of late. There are no more Darrelle Revises or Brandon Browners in this bunch.

Do I think Antonio Brown can school the inexperienced Malcolm Butler, who would be just another anonymous CB if not for one stupid decision by Pete Carroll in February? Yes. Do I think Markus Wheaton can make plays against the over-30 journeyman corner Tarell Brown? Yes. Do I think Heath Miller can outfox SS Patrick Chung? Yes. If our OL can keep Ben relatively clean (opening up holes for DeAngelo early to keep their front 7 honest sure would help), then I think we can do some damage.

Although we lost the far better player in the Bell/Blount suspensions, I think with DeAngelo Williams, we are better equipped to handle that short-term absence than New England, which surprisingly cut presumed game 1 starter Jonas Gray. Who takes the reins now? Brandon Bolden? James White? Travaris Cadet? Dion Lewis? Hardly a murderer's row of options there.

With Brandon LaFell on PUP, Reggie Wayne cut, and Julian Edelman limited throughout training camp due to injury, New England is lacking in the wideout department. If Edelman can't go, that means that Danny Amendola would be their top wideout (a solid possession guy, but has historically been brittle himself when in comes to injuries) and their starter opposite him would be Aaron Dobson (appears closer to a second round bust than a guy you want starting, since he had all of 3 catches last season). If Shazier and our safeties can buckle down on their one true offensive weapon Rob Gronkowski (which is a monumental feat, I'll admit), then I actually think that Gay/Blake/Boykin/Allen/Cockrell will be able to handle the likes of Amendola and Dobson, assuming that we can generate pressure.

Speaking of pressure, our coaching staff needs to be smart enough to not attempt to generate pressure solely from the outside speed rush, where the NE OL is strongest with OT's Solder and Vollmer, and where Brady can feel pressure coming and step up in the pocket to avoid it. We need to blitz up the middle, confuse the interior OL with stunts, and simply collapse the pocket right in Brady's face in an effort to fluster him. Their starting center Bryan Stork hasn't practiced in several days due to a setback this weekend, and he remains in the concussion protocol and therefore may not be able to be cleared in time to play 2 days from now. That means that Ryan Wendell would likely have to slide over to center, and he would be surrounded by 2 rookie guards in their first real NFL game, Tre Jackson and Shaq Mason. Take advantage of this soft middle of the OL and attack there.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Thank you for this. Gonna admit I don't follow the NFL offseason as closely as I once did. Honestly I don't get into it much until WEEK 1 of the REG SEASON.

Good insight. Good enough to put me on the edge of my recliner at the kickoff instead of sitting back prepared for the worst, hoping for the best.

And I could see DHB burning Bradley Fletcher deep a couple times. If we don't win this one, I'd rather beat them in January than September. I'd love to see shazier have his burst into the national spotlight as an all-pro by shutting down gronk, even getting a pick (I won't get greedy and say 'or two'.)

I will say 34 27. But it isn't that close.

34-20 Pittsburgh with seconds left and we give one up. 34-27.

Ben will continue his assault on the League throwing for over 400 yards and throwing TD passes to Brown, Miller, Coates and D. Williams.
