No he owned no one but he kept commenting that he did "own people". Guess there is no similarity. My bad. As for closing forums...I really have no idea what you are talking about unless you are talking about the TRIB over a decade ago...and that comment would go for most of the members here.
Glut of WR. Deal one to CAR?

There will be 100 guys cut that could be serviceable wideouts, I just don't see them giving up a draft pick. Besides Carolina obviously has a plan when it comes to their receivers, they drafted 2 big time receivers the past two years, they probably are not going to mess with their future plans in the draft by trading away picks in order to get a guy like DHB.thanks for the mature and well articulated response. A breath of fresh air. You say all the CAR WRs would just move up a notch. True. But wouldn't the same apply to Wash. Wouldn't their TEs just moved up a notch? And CAR didn't exactly have a good WR depth before the injury. All I know is there are teams that will have to cut a QB (PHI with Barkley) who'd I'd take over LJ. If PHI knows they will cut him there are several teams including us that could use him as a backup or some even competition for starter. I realize it would take a higher pick to pry a QB like him away. But just as an example. The receivers that CAR has to step up just aren't that talented. They are counting on Funchess a rookie (who is not playing well) to step up but that isn't likely. So he should have been their 4th or 5th but now might need to be their #1. Sadly for them, a couple guys we might cut would be improvements over what they have and at worst depth. I watched PHI game tonight and they too have a glut of WR. Maybe others are right that other teams might wait in hopes that they can grab someone dropped. But my point is that CAR is in a really bad division that they could win. Getting someone in camp and on the same page with Cam would help them now rather than later when it would take them a few games to catch up, learn offense, establish timing, etc. DHB has all the physical tools. He has seemingly been a hard worker and good special teams player. We haven't seen production out of him because he wasn't quite up to snuff in comparison to AB (best in game imho) and Bryant (freak who's a legit #2) and Wheaton. That shouldn't necessarily be a knock against him because if he was to start and get targets, he could explode with a good QB. Something he's never had as a starter. He's still one of the fastest WR in the game. I readily admit I might be a tad higher on him than most here. But I'm pretty sure he'd be at worst a #3 for CAR. I would assume that is worth a 6th round pick
As far as Washington TE's moving up the depth chart, they cant just throw a TE out there who isn't very good, the TE is to crucial to the run game and pass protection.Last edited by Mr.wizard; 08-23-2015, 08:35 AM.Comment

Here's the problem with the idea.
We're trading Coates who would have the most value.
Dbh might garner a late round pick if Caro was interested, but we're also counting on him for special teams.
The rest of the guys aren't even worth a pick. most teams have guys like that in camp, they aren't giving up draft picks for players like that.
The TE Washington traded for has (a little) experience
im watching the ten- ram game and the Titans have
Kendall wright 1st rder
DGB And hunter. 2 recent high 2nd rders
hakeem nicks. A former 1st deer with experience.
If carolina was truly interested in bringing someone in. There's a lot better out there to shop forComment

TEN has a real nice set of weapons for Mariota. They are pretty deep like us. I've watched CAR and they don't. I agree that CAR obviously seems okay with their depth. But as an example. This dude Phillips we have. He can ball. He gets great separation, runs good routes, is young and athletic with size. He is probably on the bubble with us. But he's more talented than most of CAR receivers right now. I was just wondering if we could get a 7th..heck..anything..rather than lose him for nothing. I actually like him more than Coates but his draft status automatically puts him ahead. I guess my concern boils down to wanting The Steelers to keep a couple of these young pups even if it's PS, but worried another team will grab them. And if that happens it'd be better to get a pick because you just never know what can happen with late picksHere's the problem with the idea.

I see ur point. I think he makes the PS though.TEN has a real nice set of weapons for Mariota. They are pretty deep like us. I've watched CAR and they don't. If Caro goes shopping for a receiver, I think they'll look for a more experienced one if they're giving up a draft pick
ps. Jacoby ford also in camp for the Titans. Another wr with some experience.
Theres better trading partners out there for caro IMOComment

Doesn't a player have to clear waivers before he signs on the PS? Since Phillips is in such high demand no way that happens.I see ur point. I think he makes the PS though.

Phillips is young and has size however he doesn't separate well enough yet to be anything but third string. Why? He isn't quick cutting and he isn't quick changing directions yet. His hands are okay at this point. Now what I like about him is he is a worker. Extra reps every day trying to stay low into and out of his cuts (he is a little to upright)He has upside but until he is a sharper route runner he will be holding on to stay in the league. You have to respect the guys that are the hardest working and he is all of that. Something I mentioned more then once in my camp reports.Comment

He excels at separation. I've watched every throw his way and even ones not..he gets great separation and runs good routes. That's why he is getting targeted and getting receptions...because he's open. But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you are seeing it very differently than me. Let's see the upcoming games so it gives us a little more to go on.Phillips is young and has size however he doesn't separate well enough yet to be anything but third string. Why? Philips? DHB? Coates? Maybe Martavis Bryant is the one the Steelers should have traded.
J/K.
Still, I think it's really sad that some players are willing to risk their own (and their team's) success for drugs.Comment

Now it makes more sense why the Steelers would spend this year's 3rd-rounder on Sammie Coates. They probably knew they were apt to lose Bryant to a suspension.
Entirely appropriate that dipstick Martavis wears #10, Santokio's old number.Last edited by BradshawsHairdresser; 08-27-2015, 04:08 PM.Comment

Come on now...we all know there much trade value in UDFA rookies. Of course this suggestion came from the guy who stated Tomlin is a bad coach and his "rep" is a result of being fluffed up by black TV analysts. I mean seriously you can't make this stuff up.Trolls are people too.Comment

no?! really? like, losing a WR, hurting our depth, changes the situation? get out! Very astute! Notice how my suggestion no longer applies due to this news. I know, crazy how that works when circumstances change. But wow, I'm blown away by your insight. Stupid now. Not stupid then...clownComment
