Haley ranked 3rd best Off Coord in the NFL

Not bad for a "golf coach" hired just because of his Daddy

http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/nfl-pittsburgh-steelers-news/2015/6/23/8832407/steelers-todd-haley-ranked-3rd-best-offensive-coordinator-by-nfl-com

Maybe we should have hired another "golf coach" for the defense a couple of years ago?

I don't know what's more of a sure thing...that you would undoubtedly lob yet another insult in Dick LeBeau's direction when posting an article that isn't about him at all...or that Crash will now return with his 4899th screen name since you managed to call him out with the "golf coach" comment yet again.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Someone rushing to LeBeau's defense is likely more of a sure thing no matter how innocuous a tongue in cheek comment is made. Quite frankly when I wrote it I was more making a joke of the "golf coach" moniker than thinking about LeBeau at all. Sorry if it offended you or anyone else cause it wasn't meant with that in mind

Ruthless, many years ago a good friend of mine gave me some of the best advice that I've ever gotten. I hold to it dearly because it truly is wisdom. Brace yourself. "Never underestimate the power of stupid people". Heed these words my friend.

Why not try actually making an "innocuous, tongue-in-cheek" comment instead of your usual MO and see how it goes over?
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Lebeau is/was a scratch golfer, so we just released a pretty good golf coach for the defense.

Where do y'all think Haley would rank if he didn't have Ben as his QB?

I'm thinking quite a bit south of 3rd.

This isn't about "bashing" Haley...but truly, can you imagine him getting such rave reviews if his starting QB was Bruce Gradkowski... or Geno Smith or Alex Smith or Brian Hoyer or just about anyone other than Roethlisberger?

OTOH, Ben never had a top 3 offense before Haley either...

True.

He also never had the combination of a RB like Bell with receivers like Brown, Wheaton, Bryant and Miller.

Again, I really am not trying to knock Haley. I just think it's funny. At this point one year ago, where do you think Haley would have been ranked by the "experts"? Did he suddenly become that much better? I'll grant that his adjustments and coaching have likely contributed some to his "climb" in the rankings.

I suspect that reality is that Haley wasn't quite as bad as he would have been ranked last year, and he's not as good as he's ranked this year.

And probably none of this really matters very much.

If the offense keeps improving, good for Haley and good for this team.

He still has plenty of room for improvement when it comes to his red zone offense, IMO.

I dont think its fair to think of it that way because better coaches will often get the better gigs. Then its solely up to the OC on how to deploy his resources, get the ball matriculated down the field, and score points (hopefully TDs this year). Could our offense be even 'better' with #1 or #2 at the helm? Im not too sure about that. Haley deserves credit for getting his unit to produce in a big way.

Haley is asking Ben to dink and dunk and he finally bought in.

No disrespect to Ben but he isn't shaking off defenders after a 5 step drop without blocking like he used to do with BA.

I truly believe if Haley is here after Ben leaves or if God forbid he gets injured our Offense won't suffer that much because the QB isn't asked to perform miracles.

we run a ton of screens and a ton of bubble screens and a lot of QB's can throw those passes. What makes Ben special is the big arm and extending plays... and yes, he is a monster in the 15 yard range but that isn't in our game plan like it was under BA

I hear you but how many years was Ben a great red zone QB? That has always been a knock on his game.

I think Haley deserves credit because he got Ben to buy in or listened to Bens request and gave him what he wanted. its not easy to handle a great QB and change their game. Ben was sandlot and now he is dumping off... kudos to both.
