SAY WHAT? He wouldn't accept a back up role...IF he does sign with the Steelers.
I think at this point he will accept any role hes given.

If he has ill will towards the ravens for how the whole situation was handled. If he feels like he wasn't treated right by them. Dropped him like a bad habit instead of helping the guy out. Something like that.

Well, you might go to your arch rivals team just to get back at them. Except for the fact that we don't play them again during the regular season.

But this kinda scenario is a possibility.

rice the last 2 years has been a slow plodder, this isnt exactly adrian peterson were dealing with. Too many miles on him, rutgers and baltimore werent afraid to run him into the ground

Although, it is INSANE that hes only 27...feels like hes been around forever

              Alex Kozora @Alex_Kozora -

Talent is capable of trumping character concerns. But with Ray Rice, where's the talent? Barely 3 YPC in '13. Nothing to gain w/ signing.

Whether people agree or disagree with what he did? C'mon Snatch. Outside of pimps, trailer park trash, and other at-large scumbags, there's nobody who would agree with what he did. I think quite a few people would agree that he was subject to unfair punishment, but that's about it.

Way too much negative circus-like attention would result, if we signed him. Not only that, it wasn't like he was tearing up the league the last time he laced up his cleats...and that was quite some time ago.

I just don't see it happening.

Now - if God forbid - something happened to Le'Veon Bell and we are in the Super Bowl hunt...

I was part of a huge, civil discussion in person about the situation a couple months ago. I don't agree with domestic violence of any kind. What he did was wrong, HOWEVER not a person has brought up the fact that she was beating on him before the elevator and in the elevator which produced the reaction. I see girls swinging on guys, I've never seen a guy swinging on a girl. Now with that said I know guys hit girls but why are girls so willing to do it in public? Because they don't catch the same kind of sh.it. NOw for me, thats as big a problem as guys hitting girls. I remember a while back watching that show "what would you do?". First scenario guy pushing girl up against the wall, yelling with mild but aggressive contact. Everyone had something to say, second scenario girl was the aggressor and passers by were laughing about it. Why? My agree or disagree stems from that but I failed to elaborate.

The reason that a girl can get away with hitting a guy, is because it usually isn't going to inflict any type of significant damage or pain. Most men on the other hand, would seriously hurt a woman even without trying to land a hard blow. Hitting a woman is among the most egregious violations of the Man Code and violators need to be held accountable through law and social stigma. That stigma just doesn't exist for women. Doesn't really need to.

Now if a chick decides that she is going to go for maximum damage and won't back down, then you gotta do what you gotta do to defend yourself. Punching her in the face however, shouldn't be considered unless you got nothing else left in the bag to use. Also a very good reason why you shouldn't date a girl who can actually beat your ass.

Baggage has a tendency to decrease with time, Blount's has all but disappeared. Ray Lewis does TV now, Mike Vick is simply a football player now. Baggage goes away, but is magnified first.

I would never hit a woman unless it was full blown self defense, that being said your first paragraph is complete and total bullish.it. People shouldn't be hitting one another period. I don't give a damn about potential damage or differences in strength. A hit is a hit just like a dog bite is a dog bite even though the bigger more physically imposing dogs are routinely demonized. It should not be socially acceptable for a woman to put her hands on a man in a aggressive manner.

it isn't acceptable for a woman to hit a man. However, it's also foolish to expect the same level of outrage from the general public when a woman hits a man.

Sadly, Ben's baggage has faded less quickly than others'. This is especially unjust given that he was not found guilty of wrongdoing by any party other than stupid public opinion.

Foolish or just the way we've conditioned ourselves? I'm also not expecting the same level of outrage but there were eye witness reports that she was swinging on him all night. It's not an excuse to knock her out cold but domestic violence is a two way street and society only focuses on one side of it. It's a problem. Hell Flasteel pretty much just said it's okay for a woman to hit a guy, as long as she's not out to inflict substantial bodily injury.

I don't see any way you can release Chris Rainey and Blount and justify signing Rice. I know Blount's situation wasn't the same as Rice, but you're releasing a problem-causing RB and signing someone who did something even worse.

In addition, Rice certainly has the look of a RB who has hit the wall, although the Ravens O line was pretty bad last year. I do think he's going to be squeaky clean from this point on, too.
