Just an indication of how far the image of the defensive line has fallen. If it was an outstanding starting unit, you wouldn't hear a peep from fans on this news.

So you guys are satisfied with the DE depth?

It comes down to roster management. Does justin brown, bw Webb, landry jones, DHB have a future with this team? Are they going to help us win a championship this year which seems to be the refrain? Spare me

All these special teams players at the back end of the 45/53 yet we are afraid to kick the ball in the air. Embarrassing

And that is why they are on the 53 man roster and Josh Mauro and Nick Wiiliams were not.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

And we are afraid to kick it in the air and squib kick instead

            So what good are they?

If you replace them with a 285 pounder and a 310 pounder, watch those squib kicks go for TD's.

                Oh please, you're being obtuse

The back end of this roster stinks. The special teams stink and they should have enough guys to fill out a coverage unit

We have now lost 3 players that could have been decent players for us going forward. Mauro is the one that stings the most, but Wesley Johnson had some upside as well

The time lost trying to develop these guys is worth something

Mauro got 22 snaps on a top ten defense on a 9-1 team in his first game.

Stephon Tuitt got 4 snaps for the Steelers last week.

                  Our defensive coaches are dinosaurs.

Mitchell and Dickey should be shown the door asap.

There was a 4th player the CB Richardson is GONE already. I think injury but still dang this sucks for the future I think. Well there is always the 2015 draft and FA's to get.

Steelers are right in the middle of the pack as far as opponents kickoff return average goes. They're almost dead last in average yards for their own returns.

Part of the reason for this (as far as I'm concerned) is that there are so many backups on defense who have been forced into starting duty due to injuries, it's sucked some of the talent/freshness out of the special teams.

Guys like Antwon Blake, Brice McCain, Arthur Moats, Will Allen, Sean Spence, Vince Williams, etc etc have all had to focus more on starting minutes at various times this season as opposed to being dedicated special teamers. Not to mention the fact that guys like Shazier and Jarvis Jones played well on special teams prior to their injuries.

They expanded the practice squad this year which allows teams to stash a few more potentially good players there. That does nothing for the active roster but it allows teams to scour the league to troll for guys.

Btw, who's to say that Joe Kruger or Ethan Hemer aren't as good as Mauro or Williams? All are undrafted guys

The @steelers have signed OL Ronald Patrick (R, South Carolina) to their PS after G Adam Gettis was signed to the NYG active roster.

The rest of the league seems to think our coaching staff and front office can evaluate and gather talent
