Windy, where do you get the notion that they "reverted to turtle ball" against the Jets? In that game they passed 43 times and ran 17 times. How is that "turtle ball"? In any case they fell behind 17-0 early, so even if they had planned to play "turtle ball", that plan went out the window. Ben and Brown did not have a good game. The OL did not have a good game. Even Suisham did not have a good game. Four turnovers is what beat us. Turtle ball had zilch to do with it.
By the way, against Tampa we had 41 passes and 27 runs. Again, not turtle ball.Last edited by RobinCole; 11-17-2014, 10:22 AM.Comment

Did you watch the Jets game? They STARTED the game in "turtle ball." Don't know what else you would call it. After falling behind, they began pressing, and that's when the turnovers came.Windy, where do you get the notion that they "reverted to turtle ball" against the Jets? I agree, the game plan on offense was horrible. First 8 to 10 passes were behind or at the LOS. It's like they conceded defeat to the pass rush before the game even started.
First turnover was all on AB... and I give a little bit of the blame to Haley for calling a middle screen vs a top 5 DL.
Ben's INT over the middle and AB's punt muff was pressing... the GL INT and the other fumble were good plays by the defense.Steelers 27

They fell behind 10-0 because the D allowed a long drive for a FG and then a long TD pass. The third score late in the first quarter was after a Brown fumble. Are you saying a veteran, star WR was "pressing" in the first quarter?
One more time: FOUR turnovers. A bad performance. Against a team that was at home and pumped up. "Any given Sunday" is a cliche because it's true.Comment

It was a terrible play call. Coaches have to put players in a position to succeed. Forget the fumble, he's going to get his best weapon hurt trying garbage like that.
They can't afford to play attrition football against bad teams. That kind of game plan requires perfect execution because you're shortening the game. Turnovers and mistakes are magnified.Comment

Any given Sunday? Tampa has one win, the Jets two (the other was against winless Oakland). That's a weak excuse when your team is consistently losing to bad teams.Comment

Tampa blew out Washington yesterday. Mike Evans has 209 yards receiving and 2 TD's. Any given Sunday.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

St. Louis spanked Denver, Manning's offense put up 7 points...any given Sunday or Monday, lets hope not any given Monday.

The game plan for each and every game is to be a balanced offense. 50/50 run/pass. This is what they TRY to achieve in each game offensively. Sometimes, it doesn't go according to plan. The short passing plays that were called in the Jets game was SUPPOSED to be quick passes to counteract the Jets front 7. Put me down for not liking that either, but that's why they did it.
Here's the bottom line from the Jets debacle. 4 turnovers was the reason why we lost. Plus- throw in a terrible day by Ben, and voila a Steelers loss. Sometimes, some of you make it out to be far more than just that. It's a game, folks. Someone wins and someone loses. IF the Steelers turn the ball over 4 times tonight, chances are, they'll lose again............6- Time Super Bowl Champions......

Turnovers and a terrible day for ben are directly related to the jets dline controlling the game....all pro players like that can disrupt any game plan when their game is on.The game plan for each and every game is to be a balanced offense. 50/50 run/pass.
