No, not like their uniforms or anything like that. I wish our coaches were like Belichick, in that he simply doesn't coach scared. He NEVER seems to come into a game with the "We should play it safe since we should be able to beat this team by calling it that way and not risk turnovers and getting beat deep on D." That is the single largest reason we lose vs. bad teams. And once the game starts going badly, you can see the look of "deer in headlights" look come over Tomlin, LuBaea and Haley. It happened last week. This regime coaches scared. The Pats step on their opponents' faces and keep kicking their teeth in all game, never giving them a chance to come back. We have to suffer with 1-8 records vs. teams with .200 or worse records, and hear how 1 point wins "are beautiful." I can't take much more of coaching incompetency. I just can't. Tomlin's 1-8 record vs. the very worst teams in the league is beyond pathetic and depressing.
I wish we were more like the Pats

Dude, I remember the Bledsoe days, and the coach carousel.
Much as I hate Belichik, he'd have done it with a pig and 10 horses. Brady on another team would be mediocre.Comment

Hmmm, I've been thinking it's just Brady. He's a pretty good QB- one of the best and I would think he'd be pretty good whereever he is. Yeah, Cassell won them what? 10 or 11 games that one year? But seriously, I think that when Brady retires, the Patriots** will be eh, just average. Heck even now though, they are like the old Atlanta Braves of baseball. They win their division only because it's about the worst in the NFL every year, so they have no competition, but other than the division, they haven't won a SB in a long time now. When it comes to Belichick, why did he suk so bad as a HC when he had the Browns and all of a sudden become the next 'Lombardy' (so they say) when he went to NE?
I'd rather have the Steelers history and their FO than any other....I would think it's damn nice walking past those 6 Lombardies every day going to work. Where else in the NFL can you do that?Last edited by pfelix73; 11-16-2014, 01:02 AM.6- Time Super Bowl Champions......

Brady's record in the SB years was not that great. He was a good game manager. He'd typically have 3500 yards for the season and a rating in the low 80s, or, on occasion, in the 90s. Heck, he was significantly worse (in QB rating) than Ben 04-06.Hmmm, I've been thinking it's just Brady. He's a pretty good QB- one of the best and I would think he'd be pretty good whereever he is. He only turned prolific when Randy Moss joined. That was his big year. He never won an SB afterwards, though.
In the meantime, Belichik was sticking Deion Branch in as CB and doing just fine.
It certainly helped that he was filming stuff, but give it to the man. Once he got his film, he could've done it with the Pig and horses.
And yes, its way more fun to be a Steelers fan. I wouldn't want Belichik to be our coach. I do wish that our guys wouldn't suck against pathetic teams, though.Comment

I personally want to see how good Belichick is without Brady. Many think Belichick made Brady but I believe it to be the other way around. This won't get any love from Steeler fans but I consider Brady to be the best QB that has ever played the game.Trolls are people too.Comment

Its a quarterback's league on offense. Colts went 0-16 after Manning left. It would be interesting to see how Tomlin would do without Rothlisberger. Cowher went to the Championship game, and won the superbowl. The third year, Ben was in a terrible accident and that impacted his play and the season.
Tomlin is an average coach at best. Without Ben, I doubt he would have a single winning season. He would be worse then Belicheck in Cleveland as he brings nothing to the table. He is not a good organizer. He is not an innovator with schemes. He doesn't motivate as well as Cowher did. Defense is his speciality but that is the weak link on the team. This defense makes all quarterback look like all-pro's. Any good high school coach could do what he does. Obviously.
In case of Tomlin, his resume was very thin before he got the job. It was more about Rooney's trying to make a statement. They are extremely lucky that they had a once in a decade Quarterback in Ben. Without Ben, this team Cleveland of last few years. Without a Quarterback, even Chuck Noll is an average coach. However with Tomlin, they are wasting a once in a decade Talent. We should have had one more Superbowl by now, and we are struggling to make playoffs. Both the losses to horrible teams are on coaches this year. You mention turnovers. That only led to 7 points. the rest was all a lackadaisical team.
They say a team acquires personality of its coach. Steelers on many instances look like they lack concentration (league leading penalties), seem to be going through the motions. This is all coaching or lack of.Comment

To further this point, with Ben, Cowher was 39-15 with a Super Bowl championship. The 11-5 season was probably 13-3 without Ben's knee injury, the 8-8 marred by the bike wreck, the appendicitis, and as we learned later, BC dealing with his wife's demise. Its a quarterback's league on offense. Cowher took teams with Neil O'Donnell to the Super Bowl and multiple AFCC Games, Kordell Steward to multiple AFCC Games, Mike Tomczak to the playoffs, Tommy Maddox to the playoffs.
If Tomlin had QBs of that caliber to work with, I agree with you, I don't think they crack .500. Heck, without continually reaching back for washed up Cowher veterans to plug holes he's had years to fill, probably under .500.
Very soon Ben will be the lone holdover. All indications are that Ike, Troy, Keisel, and James are playing their last season for the Steelers. Miller can't be far behind with that cap hit. Ben has a year left after this year and if things bottom out, they may decide to go in a new direction and start over.
God help us when they do. We'll be wishing for a decade like the 80s.Last edited by WindyCitySteel; 11-16-2014, 10:07 AM.Comment

We all know how Tomlin would do without Roethlisberger. Shoot, he has a hard enough time coaching a decent team with Roethlisberger. But, I don't see many lining up to call Tomlin a football genius either. I believe Belichick to be a good coach. How good? Well...I don't believe he wins without a franchise QB. Not many do now a days. But, in the last 11 SBs I am counting 4 SB winners without what I would consider a franchise QB.Its a quarterback's league on offense. Colts went 0-16 after Manning left.
