As if you have any idea of what actually occurs at Steeler practices and meetings. Your assertion that NFL players dont constantly, or even occasionally, work on their technique is laughable.

I think Cortez has lost his confidence. In prior years he has shown he can be a good corner. Now he seems lost on the field. Same thing happened to Ike back in 2006. Cowher benched him during the season and I think that helped Ike immensely. Hopefully Cortez will take the same path.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

      but Go Steelers!!!

        did it really help him?

I think it was similar to Tomlin making Hampton run his first year as HC. It was a message for the other players on the team.

I think Cowher benched Ike to show that a big contract doesn't mean you are safe from seeing the bench.

Don't get me wrong. I was screaming at Cortez Allen the other day ... doesn't mean he's done. It means he needs to get his head on straight.

Since this is now a dating site I will confess I yell at my wife sometimes. Doesn't mean I want her to move in with the neighbor. Although he'd love that.

I agree with you that Cortez has lost his confidence.

However, I'm not sure how a benching helps with that. It does help the team by getting an unconfident, underperforming player off the field. But the only way Cortez will regain his confidence, IMO, is by improving his play with the opportunities he's given. That can happen to an extent in practice, but will especially have to come in game action. Tomlin said he will continue to rotate Cortez in certain situations when they need extra DBs. You can bet that the Ratbirds will go after him. Here's hoping he will apply what he's learned from Lake and others, and have some success, so that he can begin to rebuild what he's lost.

With all of that, though, he may never rise to the level of solid starter...he just may not have "it." I hope that he can at least be a solid contributor off the bench for the remainder of the season. After all, the team has invested a lot of $$$ in him.

In case anyone is wondering, $6.75M out of Cortez Allen's new $24.60 million contract is guaranteed.

In 2015, his base salary is $2,631,000 with $1,350,000 worth of signing bonus proration for a cap hit of $3,981,000 ($5,400,000 in dead money if cut).

In 2016, his base salary is $4,400,000 with $1,350,000 worth of signing bonus proration for a cap hit of $5,750,000 ($4,050,000 in dead money if cut).

In 2017, his base salary is $4,300,000 with $1,350,000 worth of signing bonus proration for a cap hit of $5,650,000 ($2,700,000 in dead money if cut).

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I'm not really in the loop when it comes to soccer...is it true that in that sport, you can suffer a scoring slump and have nobody notice it?

Well I play defense like Cortez. If nobody notices you, you are doing a good job. Its that 1% of the time when the other team scores that you get some recognition!

Anyway soccer is like old school football. If you get a score, you've likely earned it and its so much more meaningful than scoring on a drive that was sustained by numerous flags from the refs....or defenders afraid to play actual defense lest they be fined.
