3-3 and Likely the 2nd Worst Team in the League

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

I'm tired of hearing Tomlin talk about things...He sounds like a politician. He is responsible for the product between the lines. If he is incapable of making these calls then he shouldn't be the HC. He needs to pressure Haley. If he is handcuffed by the FO or owners..The team is doomed anyway... BUT, Since this is the Steelers I will "ASSume" it is his show on the field. If this team is 5-6 or worse by the bye...You fire Haley. Promote Randy Fichtner to OC. If you are The HEAD COACH of the Pittsburgh Steelers...That is what you do.If you are a puppet...You ride the season out. End of story.
Defensively...You have to stop looking at the name on the back of the jersey....That is #1. I'm not sure if two suffer from this cancer but I know one does. If the almighty DL tries to Buck your Call...As "The HEAD COACH of the Pittsburgh Steelers" you over rule him. Shamarko Thomas...When he gets healthy deserves to unseat Troy. Don't increase Harrison's snap count because he is James Harrison. Walk him off the field on 3rd down & here's a word DL never heard off...Put in a pass rush specialist. You have no option with JJ down. That may be Moats or my next group of names. Wil Allen should not be on this team because he is Wil Allen. Give his hat to HOJO..Or Bring back Vic So'oto. There aren't many options out there but they need SOMETHING in a pass rush or this team will continue to fall. You won't see better CB play until they generate something. Don't tell me that HOJO, Vic So'oto, or "any other name inserted here" can't play ST & come in on 3rd down to rush the passer. Injuries derailed them early but if you are going to mix in arrogance & incompetence you might as well mail in the season. On the DL...Tuitt & McCullers deserve a fair shot at taking Thomas's helmet off him on gameday. Thomas's doesn't get a helmet because of a FO mistake. McCullers stature makes him a candidate to do his job by accident. Live with the growing pains. You start #91 or #99...Not Keisel or Tuitt.Comment

Yes you HOPE the team struggles so that Tomlin will catch heat. The last three games have seen the Steelers lose to Tampa at home, almost lose to winless Jax, and get blown out at Cleveland.
The league might be nuts, but the Steelers are right as rain and predictable: they are a bad football team.
Every week we hear the same old ****e from Tomlin, Ben, Keisel, Polamalu - i.e., the "leaders" - "we're going to fix this."
And yet, things get worse. They have no answers. They are in a death spiral and they know it, they're just trying to buy good will and time.
Next three on national TV at home. Three bad losses later, the emperor will truly have no clothes, and finally, hopefully, with any luck at all, Tomlin will be getting criticized by the national media for the house of crap he's built in Pittsburgh.
Real fan there.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

He called no one out, he was answering questions asked by the media.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

And he added honestly, if they blew an assignment then they need calling out.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

Same thing happened with the "players coach" fiasco.
He was DIRECTLY ASKED about his thoughts on being called a players coach.
He responded he thought he is called that because of his race AND his age.
People forget the AGE part.
His message was people call him a players coach because he has things in common with players.
But he is NOT their pal, therefore the DL reference as a true players coach.
He never brought it up to whine about it, or call people racist. He was asked. And he answered honestly.sigpic

when did he say they were the reason the team collapsed?
was our OL good when he fired the OL coach?
wasn't the ST coach fired BEFORE the season?
once again you are lying for no reason at all.Steelers 27

Its the American way. The press asks you questions, then everyone makes out your response was a spontaneous statement, then they roast you and feel very superior.
Its how we feel good about ourselves. If you don't know it, learn it.Comment

Yep. The Tomlin situation is a great reminder that winning literally cures everything. If the Steelers were 5-1 right now instead of 3-3, no one would care about his press conferences. Instead, everything he says is magnified.
If he calls out a player, (which EVERYONE on this board does) he gets ripped for passing the buck. If he says "it's on ME", or "our performance was below the line" he gets ripped for just paying it lip service and for using cliches.
He literally can't win. Until the Steelers win.Comment

Agreed, winning cures all. But for me it is not has much the coaching. Its the players, so many of them seem to play with NO heart. I see very little emotion out of them, Pouncy on occasion, Cameron but on a limited basis. I would like to see Ben step up and get some real excitement about playing the game, be a leader with some emotional outburst. Watching Brady last Monday against the Bengals brings this to mind. He was fired up and it carried through his team. A little emotion can carry a team a long way and that is not a coachable trait, that is an internal Desire. So many of them do not show that desire.Yep. The Tomlin situation is a great reminder that winning literally cures everything.
