    Our offense versus our defense

DL gets a ton of grief for an underperforming defense. Our offense IS playing better overall (and this game the offense was worse) and it receives less criticism.

But do you realize the talent disparity between our units?

    Our best players are:
    A QB
    A receiver
    A running back
    A center
Then our first defensive player. Maybe.....(might be DeCastro)

We have one maybe 2 solid defensive starters in their prime and NO stars players in their prime.
We have perhaps the worst secondary and defensive line units in the entire LEAGUE.
Our linebackers are the best defensive unit and is AVERAGE. Two of our young starting linebackers are injured.

A STRONG case can be made that this defense is the least talented in the league.

Conversely, our with Bell on a serious tear, added to Ben and Brown in the pass game, how does this offense not dominate as a top 5 type unit.
Our defense has 30 something talent, an AVERAGE result would be AMAZING.

I contend that considering the talent our OFFENSE has been FAR WORSE as far as reaching it's potential.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

You could argue at the end of last year Heyward and Timmons were above Bell. Unfortunately none of our defensive players have taken the leap into the next level like Bell has this season. I was hoping Shazier would break out but he's been awfully quiet outside of preseason...then of course the injury. Mitchell was supposed to be a huge upgrade over slow-as-molasses Clark but he seems to be a ghost. Jarvis looked like he was 'improving' but it's not that hard to improve on a 1-sack-in-8-games season.

I saw a preseason mag that had Timmons as the leagues 15th best at his position.
Bell and Heyward were not top 20 at their positions.

Right now a case can be made for Bell, Brown, and Ben for top 5

Timmons who DIGRESSED after ranking 15th last year.......is our best defender

The OFFense is top 5-10 in most categorize except scoring, the problem with the defense is that Dickey its not aggressive and play a soft coverage D. So you can't expect TO and Game changing plays. When the D make any Qb look good then you wonder why, if Dickey played more aggressive then people wouldn't criticize him.

Except for yesterdays game, would you rather get picked apart or die a slow death or try to force mistakes, the latter is not working. 2nd half of yesterday's game he got aggressive and we had a game changing play, but the first half he was passive the drive before half time and Bortles looked like Joe Montana.

As for yesterday's game, the offense had the much tougher task. Jacksonville's defense isn't as bad as many would believe. Their defensive line is actually very good. However, their offense is pathetic with five or more rookies starting.

                What!!!
The dude who cries "we don't start rookies" now is saying another teams offense is junk because....THEY ARE STARTING ROOKIES. How bout some consistency.

Btw before yesterday Jax had the 30 something pass defense. Don't make like we should not have CRUSHED them. 10 points offensively is offensive.

At no time did Bortles look like Joe Montana. If you disagree, look at his passer rating. Which is not to say that he will never be compared to Montana. Just not yet.

Mr. Lemming is correct. Heading into the game yesterday the jags were dead last in the NFL in allowing yards per game and passing yards per game. They were 25th in allowing rushing yards per game. And on a pace to allow the most yards and points for a season in the history of the NFL. They lost their first 4 games by an average of 23.5 points.

The O was putrid yesterday. Browns win if we see that type of performance from the O this week. Embarrassing.

maybe a little exaggeration in my part, but the drive before the half, Dickey played soft and The Jags drove down the field under 2minutes in which they should have scored. And yes he looked good on that drive.

Steelhere, there you go again. "The drive before the half, Dickey played soft". I thought he always plays soft. And what number was he wearing? Wait, I know. "Pushing 80".

ben and heath were 1st rounders over 10 years ago

the highest drafted players on the team after ben (11) are shazier and timmons followed by jones troy was in that area as well but he's also had many years in the league like ben and heath. even the top defenses (using last year's stats) dont have as many high choices in the draft as we do.

the offense has 1 guy in the skill positions drafted in the top 2 rounds
                              thats unsettling
