I'm not concerned with the DL. My concern right now is at OLB. Harrison looked old & slow....Which he is. Don't know if football shape will help that. I'm concerned about the snap counts between Moats & Harrison. To me that says the don't have confidence in Moats as a 3 down player. That is the BIGGEST concern on defense right now. Lack of pressure from the OLB & there may be nobody on the roster to help that. There may be some help...If the Steelers want to explore something.

IF Foster is healthy..There may be an option. Pick up the phone & bring in Victor Butler for a workout. If he shows he can get on the field now (knee healed)...You sign him. Cut Hubbard & sign to PS. Release Ventrone. Get Butler up to speed ASAP!

Butler was just cut by the Cardinals, which leads me to believe that he is not healthy yet, but I'd absolutely bring him in to kick the tires.

As for Harrison, he certainly isn't the guy who was the DMVP. The frightening thing is that there were a number of times when he still looked better than Worilds.

That's why I said you bring him in for a work out. Okafor is back healthy & the Cardinals signed Desmond Bishop & cut Butler. Have to see if health of his knee is a factor.

Perhaps other coaches could have come to Pittsburgh and has success, but they didn't...

LeBeau did and the Steelers haven't played in a SB with any other DC...

Perhaps we don't have that guy because we don't draft the DE who can step in and play and instead draft a conversion project and wait 2-3 years and hope it works out. I'll guarantee if we were playing the 4-3, our picks would have been different as you well know.
With nothing but conjecture to suggest that those players would be any better...

I agree with you. Given the way Worilds has played thus far, the Steelers need to look at not only options for this year, but also depth down the road.

yep... Harrison wasn't Deebo but it was also his first game after sitting on the couch. He still looked just as good as the rest of our OLB's.

they might not rank high. but they absolutely were responsible for winning that game in san fran by forcing 4-5 turnovers.

and again versus the jets had a defensive TD along with more turnovers.

when's the last time you can say that about the steelers defnse

I guess you forgot last season vs GB, PIT ahead by 7, GB driving to PIT 6 yd line and the Defense held them out.

This defense is bad because we never addressed aging players. The Steelers bring in players that show no sign of development and do not develop. You allow Keshawn Lewis to take up space, teach him, see that he is doing well and then allow him to leave hen, you know you have stove hand Ike and a unproven in Cortez Allen. So they panic and sign Allen and all he proved is he wasn't worth the signing. Why did it take them so long to earn what everyone else knew Ziggy Hood shouldn't be on this team. I don't know if the defense does get a pass or not but, who on this defense is worth anything to declare they are not living up to their talent level ? Someone needs to look long and hard at who is giving the green light to select these players. Then we need coaches that can determine in less than four seasons if the guy can play ball or not.

No. This defense is struggling because of lack of talent and the new CBA limiting contact during practices. Walk-throughs 5 days a week doesn't prepare a rookie or 2nd year player for an NFL game on Sunday. If it was up to the coaches, I am sure they would be in pads every day.
