In his prime, Gates was one of the best receiving TEs in the history of the NFL. Getting older in athletics doesn't mean that you all of a sudden can't play anymore, it starts with you not being able to play at the highest level as _much_ and as _often_ as you used to. Gates can no longer have a monster game every game, like he used to. But he obviously can produce a big game here and there, and playing the current world champs, he gave the extra effort to make this one of his few, last big games. It wasn't the 1st or last time an aging star manages to flash a big game nearing the end of his career. Being that Gates hasn't been the force he used to be a few years ago, Seattle probably didn't spend all that much time game planning against him, and we saw the results. They probably focused far more on defending Allen, who only had 5 for 55.
