The SNL Play 60 spoof with Peyton was comedic genius.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

          True.

OTOH, you can't lose them unless you have them in the first place...

To get back to the original question, I hate the celebrations such as the flips into the end-zone that could result in an injury or even turn-over of the ball.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

he does celebrations for more than sacks or game changing plays. this is my point though, while he doesn't do them on every routine play he DOES them.

Just wondering what the criteria is for a celebration equating to being a me first guy. AB celebrates but I still don't see him as a me first guy. He's probably the hardest worker on this team.

The only ones that I hate. Other than that I love celebration by my team because I'm probably hooping and hollering with them.

However, when I first started watching the NFL circa 1970 football was about football and not entertainment and to me it still should be about football. I watch because it gets my adrenaline flowing, I love watching team sports and in some dark place I still wish it was about the football and not entertainment. To me entertainment is a movie, a play, the symphony, a concert, etc and a sporting event should be about the competition and not entertainment. I am entertained by football, but it's the passion, the camaraderie of teammates, the wanting to win and the in game strategies that entertain me, not celebrations, look at me, etc.

So, as has been stated, I have options, watch the entertainment (since, obviously, it has become less about the game than entertainment) or don't. I still watch, so I don't complain about the "look what I just did" mentality, I may not like it, but I watch and I still hold on to the archaic or romantic belief that the competition is more important than the entertaining, when I lose that I won't watch.

I'm sorry, but I think it was more celebration back then. It wasn't made such a big deal by the media. Remember the league stepped in and at one point wouldn't let it be no celebration period. Maybe it was late 70's when all this was going on but it was.

                      What about the XFL?

They tried to make it about the theatrics over the football. And no one watched.

I wonder if Keisel will pass down his celebration to Dri. If anyone should do the bow and arrow celebration, it's a dude named Archer.

                          What's you criteria?

I think the general consensus by most fans is if a guy is genuinely excited and reacting to something in a positive way, we'll celebrate with him. If a guy premeditates a celebration and does something just for the sake of getting noticed and uses that premeditated celebration in some way that seems forced or inappropriate, it's kinda douchey.

Just cause AB's first down reaction is annoying doesn't make him a me first guy. It just makes him annoying in the moment he does it.

At the same time, we can judge guys by different standards if we want. I enjoyed Hines and Bus celebrating. AB, Keisel, Foote, Woodley are a couple guys that got on my nerves when they celebrate.

And even though I don't like guys celebrations doesn't mean I don't like a guy. AB, Keisel, Foote, and Woodley were all some of my favs.

I think Archer should take a lap around the stadium hi 5ing the crowd. He could probably do that quicker than AB drops a football for a first down.

As long as he doesn't wear a Sheldon Cooper Flash t-shirt under his jersey like Bobby Shaw's Superman t-shirt, I'm okay with it.

Is bragging even a word in the dictionary anymore? And if it is, is it still considered something to avoid nowadays? Is being humble only for chumps anymore?

And the worst of the worst is the "Ball Drop" for some no biggie catch he is being paid to make (or the Tones Bicep Push, etc) ... when we are getting hammered in a game! Yes, that is a Me-Too (or really, a Me-Only) attitude that I would like to not see in players wearing the Black and Gold.

Yes, please be more like Heath.

Or Troy. Or Timmons. Or Casey. Etc. (For the sensitive ones).

PS - for those who say this showboating is unavoidable in this day and age ... i don't think a single San Antonio Spurs player has a "signature move". You _can_ be successful, even a superstar, without being a clown.

(Of course Rainbow-Head Dennis Rodman used to be a Spur, so, uhm, forget that last bit please!)

We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!
