Pouncey was one of 4 captains named last year. Of those 4, 2 will probably not be back this year. Clark is already gone and Keisel may leave as well. Also if the team "completely deflated" after losing a center then something is wrong with the team or the HC who let them deflate. He was hurt a lot before last season. So what the team thinks of Pouncey is irrelevant to the ownership. They may not like their center being viewed as a thug. They may not want to pay a guy who has been hurt the past 3 seasons.

Some things are changing. Nix is dropping and some mocks have him available at the Steelers 2-15. Bleacher Reports (I know) have Pgh going.

      1. Dennard
      2. Nix
      3. WR, Jared Abbredderis, WI. Best route runner in draft class, decent size. Good fit.
      4. Deandre Coleman, DE, Cal. Played DT in college, but would make ideal DE in Pgh. Big run stuffer.
      5. Terrence Brooks, FS, FSU. Very athletic. Has jets, 4.42 speed. But do we need a S this high? Maybe.
5b. Fresno State's Marcel Jensen, TE.
      6. Trevor Reilly, Utah, OLB
6b. G/T Andrew Norwell, Ohio State
      7. RB Jerick McKinnon, Georgia Southern

I'd be OK with a draft like that.

I really like Abbredderis. His route running is breath taking...truly put me in awe. He is going to be a very solid pro.

One aspect NO ONE seems to touch on is that MP hasn't been playing very well. He is all hype but of little substance. I saw him get thrown around like a rag doll. I thought both back ups out played him, including Cody Wallace, who I am amped that they resigned. MP is overrated, and seemingly too thug. Anyone who sports a "Free Fernandez" hat has something wrong with him. Does he think we should overlook murder?

Nix in the 2nd may be as big of a crime as AB in the 6th.

If they somehow landed Gilbert or Dennard in the 1st...And Nix slipped by the Pats to the Steelers in the 2nd...There will be several people in that war room down on their knees.

Yea, and on the other hand, Gilbert and Dennard could both be gone to Lions and Rams, and we end up taking Ebron. I guess we just have to wait and see.

I'm ok with Ebron. He is so smooth...very polished receiver. Honestly, he might be #1 on the Steelers radar after Evans. It wouldn't shock me.

Think about this a bit. With Brown, Ebron, Miller and Wheaton (or DHB) on the field, you create crazy mismatches. How many linebackers can cover Ebron? Not many. So they must run pass packages D's. Now you have Blount or Bell in the backfield running against nickel or Dime packages? Come on.

Yea, I think about that and then I think about this, Heyward, Thomas, unknown, Worilds, Williams, Timmons, Jones, Taylor, Polamalu, Mitchell, Allen and my excitement is tempered. The Steelers simply aren't going to be an offensive juggernaut like the Pats, Broncs, Pack, Saints, etc and outscore their opponents. Yea, Ebron or Evans would be sweet, but I'd rather a defensive player, there are many places that a defensive player could actually be the starter day 1, even if the Steelers would rather not do that. They may not have a choice this year.

I agree that he hasn't played great since his rookie season. How much of that is because he hasn't heeled from his injuries is anybody's guess. I don't want to re-sign him.

That's an opinion not shared by the Steelers press. Labriola, Prisuta, Wolf, Tunch, etc were all talking about how much better the line would be when Pouncey came back. A couple of those guys actually know a little about line play.

I'm seeing a lot of love for Ebron... just like Eifert last year.

Why is the TE position so coveted on here? Is it ALL due to the Pats?

I don't see TE on our radar due to all the other needs. Is the Ebron feeling more of a WANT or is it something you truly believe our FO is looking at this year?
