I know I am probably the only one, but I hope the Browns release Manziel and Steelers pick him up and develop him. He is obviously not ready for the pro game but the guy has undeniable tools and if he works a good program and keeps his nose clean I don't see why he couldn't excel in 2-3 season.Trolls are people too.Comment

Jamarcus Russell had undeniable tools, hell even tebow had undeniable tools. Manziel has the frame of a pre teen boy, hes under 6 ft tall, hes an ego maniac with a drinking problem,....those are the only undeniable traits of his.
For a college QB he had top notch acceleration, but that does him no good in the pros. In college he had good ball placement (partially bailed out by Mike Evans catching everything in sight) and he has good awareness and escapability in the pocket but I think hes almost certainly going to be chalked up as an overhyped college QB that everyone wanted to see transcend the norm and be a star at the next level.
Ridiculous hype from winning the heisman as a freshman and being in the news all the time, but guys like him come and go all the time from a physical translation standpoint.Comment

You're right, in all likelihood, that you are the only one that would want Manziel in Pittsburgh. IMO, let someone else try and rebuild him into something, he has to learn how to be part of a community and learn what is appropriate and what isn't appropriate before he can even think about playing football. His lack of understanding about how to get along in the world was disquieting. I don't have anything against him and I hope he's able to get everything worked out for himself, just not in Pittsburgh as a Steeler.

I will disagree with you guys. He would be a low risk high reward guy. Its not like we would spend a first for him. Or give him a huge salary. He has crazy tools in vision (elite), solid arm strength with above average accuracy, above average scrambling ability with terrific accuracy on the run. I also believe he can be a solid leader as his teammates report liking the guy. I know that few of you understand alcoholism how it effects talent and character. But, what I will say is this...some of the most solid people I know are in recovery. If Manziel does what he needs to do, and is willing to work on developing pocket passing skills...I sure as heck would take a chance on him.Trolls are people too.Comment

Well, IMO, he's a high risk right now due to his character flaws, as a football player he may be a low risk, high reward guy, but until he has his life in some semblance of order he's a high risk proposition to me. He has always given me the impression that he believes he holds special status and should be treated differently. It's only my opinion based on he behavior and interviews, I don't know him, he might be a standup guy, but he doesn't project that image if he is.

I disagree with much of this assessment, and none of it has to due with alcohol. Crazy elite vision? I guess I just don't see it. His arm strength is average at best and his accuracy from the pocket I'd say is below average. I'll give you the scrambling ability and ability to throw on the run. Just because teammates report liking a guy doesn't make him a solid leader, either.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

Of course he has skills, otherwise he never would have been considered for the NFL, let alone the first round of the draft.
The fact that he is a douchebag and never grew up yet inhibits his ability to function as a member of a team and put those skills to work on the field.sigpic
