Matt Schaub was out there and just signed with the Ravens as the backup to Joe Flacco. Backup quarterback pay certainly could have been afforded by the Steelers to get a solid veteran backup that has game experience. That's who they should have been looking at and considering moving on from Jones (not Jarvis).

But those scouts were probably all employed by the Browns last year.

I will disagree with you guys. He would be a low risk high reward guy. Its not like we would spend a first for him. Or give him a huge salary. He has crazy tools in vision (elite), solid arm strength with above average accuracy, above average scrambling ability with terrific accuracy on the run. I also believe he can be a solid leader as his teammates report liking the guy. I know that few of you understand alcoholism how it effects talent and character. But, what I will say is this...some of the most solid people I know are in recovery. If Manziel does what he needs to do, and is willing to work on developing pocket passing skills...I sure as heck would take a chance on him.

He doesnt have crazy elite vision, and to go with that he has crazy sloppy mechanics which is fine in the Big 12. If Tebow, Cutler, and Stafford have taught us anything, its that they dont change the way the play when the bullets are flying just because guys tell them too and manziels feet are worse than all of those guys who are notorious for throwing off their back foot....except manziels arm is massively inferior to Cutler and Stafford who get away with it sometimes

lol at elite vision. He was horrible in the NFL and didnt show much besides a nice scramble or 2. He relied too much on Evans catching jump balls and didnt take the NFL seriously.

He was fun to watch in college but there are a lot of mobile QB's who were great at the collegiate level and subpar in the NFL.
