Browns could be interested in Charlie Weis, of course
Posted by Darin Gantt on January 8, 2015

Sometimes the Browns seem like they’re kidding the world, waiting for us to realize it’s all been an elaborate prank.
So as they begin yet another search for yet another offensive coordinator, they may be interested in one of the hottest names in the business — 10 years ago.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, one name which could be on the Browns’ list is Charlie Weis.
Weis has a long tradition of successfully grooming NFL quarterbacks, from Tom Brady to, well, Tom Brady. There was that one year where he made Matt Cassel look competent in Kansas City, but he’s otherwise spent the last decade leading Notre Dame to a 35-27 record and Kansas to a sharp 6-22 mark.
So naturally, he’s a hot property.

Browns looking at steep penalties for TextGate
The Browns could be fined and docked a draft pick, while GM Ray Farmer is facing a multi-game suspension as a result of "TextGate."
The Browns are having one heck of a start to the offseason. Johnny Manziel is in rehab, Josh Gordon has been banned for one year, and now the team is staring at stiff penalties because a front-office member -- suspected to be Farmer -- was texting coaches on the sidelines during games this past season. The NFL is expected to wrap up its investigation into the matter either this week or next.

Sometimes the smartest teams look past the talent and focus on the person. You gotta hand it to the Steelers for getting it mostly right when judging the player as a whole.Browns looking at steep penalties for TextGate

If it had been the *'s GM, you could figure Goodell & Co. would basically look the other way.Browns looking at steep penalties for TextGate

I don't know. I don't think Rog will be able to drop the hammer on the Browns and Falcons while allowing the Pats** to skate again. I think part of the reason teams are disregarding the rules is because the Pats** punishment for taping was so pathetic.Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

What I fear and think will happen though, is this: Everyone seems to be assuming that the deflate gate really only happened against the Colts, in which case it was obvious it did not change the outcome of that game. So I think many will assume that a small fine is enough punishment for something so "minor" that really didn't impact that one game. But if the cheaters have been doing this for years, then it's had a much more profound impact on their record. The statistics on their lack of fumbles for the past several years - compared to the rest of the league - does make you wonder.Comment

I have MUCH less distain for piping in crowd noise than I do for deflate gate. You're supposed to have an advantage in your home games. I'm not condoning it but IMO, it's less egregious than what the cheaters have done in deflate+spy+whatever-else-gate.Comment

A friend of mine in college was a stripper at a gay club, did tons of crack, lost a kidney on a bet, married a donkey, and threw every cent he had off of his balcony - thus leaving him with no money to complete his education.
But he never did anything as embarrassing as befriending a Browns fan.
