Has there ever been a 20+ point spread in the NFL?

Just saw NE is a 20.5 point favorite over Indy.

Shouldn't they just cancel the game with that big a spread?

To answer you question, Flip, yes there have been a couple of games with a 20 point spread. The largest in NFL history is the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the expansion Tampa Bay Bucs in 1976. Pittsburgh was favored by 24 points and won the game 42-0.

The spread for Super Bowl III was as high as 19 points and as low as 17.5 points favoring Balitmore, but the Jets won by 9.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

If it were Colt's/Steelers the spread would be 6.5

          And we beat New England???

How high did the spreads get during the 2007 Pats' "We're going to prove we weren't cheating by running up the score ridiculously on everybody we play now that we *ahem trust us* destroyed all of the illegal video that we lied about having for the last 8 years" 18 - 1 victory tour? I know there was a solid run of 56 - 10 type scores there, and I also know that bookies don't tend to tolerate losing money gladly... Were there any 20+ spreads there?

They were in the 20's as I remember. It was an amazing stretch of covering ridiculously large spreads for them. If I didn't hate them so much, I probably would've been able to capitalize on their "dominance" (anyone can dominate when you cheat).

Just did a little research and fond the Pats got 24 pts vs the Eagles in 2007 and 27 pts vs the Jets.

A little more surprising is they won those games by only 3 and 10 points.

Typically matchups like this are 14 pt. spreads.

Even the dominant year of the Pats in 2007 the spreads were 14-17 on average. Maybe an occasional 18.

But 20??? I've never seen that in the NFL.
I texted my buddy who i always bet with the other day about this spread cuz I've never seen it before

This spread IMO, is more an indication of the Colts organization doing the tank job than it is the Patriots* ability.
