Re: Little Ben Is Inconsistent, the Truth Hurts

Thanks. So Cowher agreed things can change which means no true plan for the entire season existed.

Cowher said. "I'm not saying that things can't change, but right now Tommy Maddox is our incumbent starter.
That's what I suspected.

The "Cowher never wanted Ben" theory has been factually disputed by quotes of Kevin Colbert. To continue to say it is to only prove you are incapable of reading comprehension.

Incumbent starter says all I needed to hear from him.

Yeah, things did change, BOTH of Cowher's preferred choices got injured.

Only then did Ben play.

You're toast on this, accept it, move on.

I'm sure you feel that way but Cowher's own words state I am, in fact, correct.

You're free to have that opinion though but to state it as fact would be incorrect.

Nice vote of confidence for the rookie QB there Bill. Oh wait, he never wanted Ben, so that explains it.

"Tommy Maddox is our incumbent starter," Cowher said. "I'm not saying that things can't change, but right now Tommy Maddox is our incumbent starter. And Charlie Batch backs him up, and Brian St. Pierre is No. 3 because right now, I don't think that Ben could take us out of the huddle."

More encouragement to Ben from the coach who "led the charge" to select him.
I don't care who you are or who your dog is in this fight, those sound like the words of a coach who isn't exactly doing cartwheels about Ben Roethlisberger being on his team at that point. I wonder how he felt by week 10 though?

Re: Little Ben Is Inconsistent, the Truth Hurts

Well, those comments were from an article written April 26th, 2004 and Ben hadn't even practiced once yet.

How that proves what the plan was for 2004? It doesn't, not at all.

If Ben hadn't even practiced yet as you mentioned, how could Cowher even know that Ben couldn't take them out of the huddle?

Sounds like a guy completely downplaying his new 1st round draft pick before he even takes a practice snap. Good thing Ben's never lacked confidence.

Ben wasn't going anywhere and neither was Maddox. So that leaves Batch or St. Pierre.

Nice dodge.

NO reason to dodge anything. The only thing this quote proves is there was no plan, which is what I suggested earlier. Quotes from a day or two after he was drafted certainly doesn't prove Bill was against him playing at all his rookie year. He hadn't even seen him step on a practice field yet.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Re: Little Ben Is Inconsistent, the Truth Hurts

First of all, this scalaid6 fella is a serious douche. complete buffoon.

Secondly, I don't understand the need to justify Ben's greatness and ability by saying he came to a bad team. The Steelers werent a bad team back then. But it's painfully obvious that they needed a QB like Ben to get over the hump. It's also painfully obvious that you need a great QB in this league to win Championships.(cheating also will do the trick). The exceptions as of late are Baltimore, which had one of the sickest Defenses assembled, and Tampa, who faced Oakland and they knew everything they were gonna do offensively because of Chucky. Going back even further, the only other weak QB's to win a Superbowl were Hostetler(whom I have always loved for his toughness) in '90 and Rypien was in '91. Incidently, both teams had won Superbowls 4 years prior so they were already Superbowl-caliber. Aside from those 4, over the past 20 years you have Aikman, Young, Favre, Elway, Warner, Brady, Roethlisberger, Manning1, Manning2, Brees and Rodgers.

You really don't win Championships in this league unless you have an elite QB. And while Manning2 isnt elite, he is still a Manning. It's in the frickin' blood.

Ben need not be justified by argueing that he came to a worse or a simply bad team.

8/11 are either Hall of Famers or will be in the Hall(and yes I include Ben). Manning2, Brees and Rodgers are all ?-marks.

There isnt a QB in the league who is not in the Hall of Fame who has been to 3 or more Superbowls(Warner withstanding).

It's not Bens stats that make him elite, it's the intangible, unquantifiable ability that he possesses that makes him truly great. IN HIS FIRST 7 YEARS IN THE LEAGUE!

You Trolls make me weep for humanity.

But you go ahead and keep coming up with stupid silly arguements about why Ben is this or Ben isnt that.

The rest of us who truly know what we have behind center will keep laughing at you, shaking our heads from side to side, as we tear you apart here on the forum and out on the field!

If Ben was hated by teammates how was he voted Captain in 2008 and 2009 (AFTER the McNulty accusation) and team MVP in 2009 as well?

Keisel admitted he was questioned by Goodell's people, and he also admitted he was confused by what they tried to get out of him.

Goodell reacts based on what media tells him to do. That's been proven when the media didn't care about the Perrish Cox case and Goodell let him play on. The "details" of that case are said to be so disturbing that the records/reports are sealed.

This article came out that said Ben was not liked by his teammates.
The following quotes are from NFL scouts, coaches and front-office personnel, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
• "(Steelers QB) Ben Roethlisberger is not a well-liked teammate. He's arrogant and lazy. It's not a nice mixture in a steel city known for its toughness."

Some former Pittsburgh Steelers teammates are kicking Ben Roethlisberger(notes) while he's down, telling ESPN that Roethlisberger wasn't well-liked in the locker room while they were there.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdo ... nfl-236615

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told him he talked to two dozen Steelers while he was deciding how to punish Roethlisberger at the beginning of this season, and to a man, Roethlisberger’s teammates declined to say anything supportive of their quarterback.
“Not one, not a single player, went to his defense,” Goodell told King

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... h-goodell/

True story: In 2008, while the Steelers were en route to another Super Bowl, I actually had some Steelers players saying the team would have been better off with Roethlisberger on the bench.

http://www.steelersgab.com/2010/04/13/p ... -like-him/

Lastly, From Bens OWN MOUTH. He tells how It was hard to hear how his teammates felt about him

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4kyadviN88

So I guess I FORCED the Steeler players AND BEN to admit that he is not liked. Ben has ONE TEAM MVP and that speaks VOLUMES (Even Kordell has one lol). He was stripped of his captaincy as well. Guys said if they had to revote they would have made Pouncey a captain. So for next year that leaves Hines, Heath and Pouncey on offense and NO BEN. You think they vote Ben in over Heath, Hines and Pouncey? TIME WILL TELL
