Jim Wexell on Heath Miller and Troy

Heath's having headaches. I expect him to miss Sunday. Troy limping more this week. Wouldn't comment. 12/16/2010 - 3:25 PM

That sucks. But sitting him out is the best thing for him. This happens often with concussions. Player feels better, passes all the tests, then symptoms reappear with exertion. That means he's not out of the woods yet. Keep him out and make sure he's good to go for the playoffs.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

      Will Hines call out Heath?

This goes completely against what Tomlin said. Somebody's fibbing.

I suspect Troy will be out for this game. I would want him health for the playoffs. Same goes for Miller.

Tomlin was going by the facts as they were at the time. Sometimes a concussed person seems OK but then they have problems when they exert themselves physically. It happens a lot with fighters. They seem OK to work out but then when they start running and hitting the pads they get headaches.

If Troy is out for this game plan on being 10-4 come Sunday night. Troy can rest against the Panthers and Browns. We can beat them without him. We can't beat the Jest without him.

I disagree. I think you give the Jets way too much credit. The Jets can't run on us and I don't believe Sanchez can beat us with his arm.

Who do you think would play in Troy's place? Mundy? Allen? Sorry not inspired. Troy singlehandedly won the last two games for us. We already have a weak secondary so I'm not confident that taking the best player off the field gives us the same chances to be successful.

                      Crap. And double Crap.

                      Heath being out is bad.

If Troy were out, it would be awful. Troy at 80 percent still > Mundy or Allen.

Steelers Miller has symptoms, doesn't practice

                        Thursday, December 16, 2010
                        By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

                        Mike Groll/AP
Steelers' tight end Heath Miller is hit by the Bills' Reggie Torbor during a game last month in Buffalo.

Steelers tight end Heath Miller suffered a setback with his concussion and did not practice today, which leaves his status for Sunday's game against the New York Jets in doubt.

Miller missed last Sunday's game against Cincinnati because of a concussion he sustained on Dec. 5 at Baltimore.

He practiced for the first time since then on Wednesday, but sat out today when he experienced a mild headache.

"He experienced a little headache," said offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. "Very cautious. We're not going to take any chances with him."

Arians said he hopes Miller can practice on Friday and play on Sunday but they will not take any chances.

"I sure have my fingers crossed, I hope so, but we're going to do what's in his best interests, his family's. We're not going to force anything. He's smart enough to make the right decision."

The problem we have is Troy playing on a bum ankle. Playing, when rest is indicated will likely extend the injury and risk him playing in the playoffs. I agree troy at 80% is better than anyone we have but to risk extending the injury is not prudent.

This Sunday the Rats play the Saints at 1:00 and we don't play until 4:15. I don't know a lot about playoff scenarios, but if the Rats lose wouldn't we have to lose 2/3 of the remaining games to lose the division or something close? It's pretty unlikely with Aaron Rodgers out that the Pats will lose Monday night, making it almost impossible to gain the #1 seed.

So if the Rats do lose, I'd rather sit Troy for that game (as long as it's VERY unlikely we lose the division and 1st round bye). But if the Rats win, you might have to play him to keep a stronger lead. But the Rats playing first this weekend might help to decide if Troy sits or plays.

Will Allen would step in & play comendably if required. Troy being out simply means somebody else needs to step up.

The Jets Offense is not that good- pressure on Sanchez works much better than pressure on Brady.

Every player with a Steelers uniform is expected to perform at a winning level, right?

The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?
