Prowler, while Petersen was a great college coach he ain't about that life. West coast guy, he ain't going to the burgh. Also too emotionally balanced for the NFL. If he wanted it he would have done it YEARS BEFORE his QB did it. It is a dream for you that will never happen.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

    TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Whatever, I don't know what the race of the next coach will be. I and I assume most Steeler fans will support the coach regardless. But based on your comments I feel rather confident that if he happens to be black you will take issue with it.

Interesting- I'd have never thought of it but seen Antwaan Randle El mentioned a couple of times & is currently at 14/1 odds.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

        Light up the darkness.

There are several good candidates who are available. I'm looking forward to Khan's vetting of all of them.

I’m surprised that no one is advocating for Arthur Smith yet.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

But I was very okay with him stepping down on his own and after last night, felt like it was time he did that.
Agree with all of that, except I thought it was time for him to step down about 4 years ago.

If Rooney was smart he would hire Curt Cignetti. I know he won't because he's 64 & will want a younger coach. But he has Pitt ties & he's been a success everywhere turning programs around. He played Qb & is innovative offensively which we desperately need.

It aggravates me to no ends how people are saying to those who have been asking for a Tomlin termination/leave are crazy and just wait until you don't have a winning record. From my point of view, you can have zero wins in a season to winning a Super Bowl. That's like 0-100. The Steelers with Tomlin always finish around 50. That's not bad, but it's also not good. Tomlins success has been his failure. With finishing in the middle of the pack you can't get game changing players in the draft. That leaves you with development (which he can't do) or getting players in the last years of their careers. When has any business executive gone for a decade staying around 50 out of 100? They usually get fired long before wasting that many years.

Captain Lemming, Petersen not to long ago mentioned in an interview that if the right opportunity came along he would like to coach in the NFL. Just putting that out there. Of course it's a long shot but so are a lot of other coaches fans are pumping from their wish list.

How about Urban Meyer? Imagine this, Heyward is stretching on the field before a playoff game and Meyer walks over to Cam and says to him, "hey loser, how about you stop the run for a change in the playoffs", then kicks Cam in the head. For the record, I have no idea why that thought popped into my head but for the some reason this made me laugh. Evil mind, I guess.

I think Chadman had a good idea in Byron Leftwich, as he's a capable option. This possibility made me think of Ben Roethlisberger as a HC. No QB was better then Ben in the no huddle hurry up offense. If we're looking to reinvent the offense into a modern one Roethlisberger would be a fantastic replacement. Not sure if he would be interested though.

Shula has been someone the Steelers had their eye on BEFORE Tomlin was canned. They just set up an interview with him. I think we are on a path to getting our own Sean Mcvay. And I’m excited about that.

Prowler, Id like Pete too. But when he talked about even his move from Boise, dude went on about location being a big deal. If the Seahawks or Niners were looking...maybe. BTW, Ben just said "no" on his podcast on that possibility. He would be happy to be a consultant on the choice if Rooney asked.

There are many interesting candidates. I don’t think cignetti, as he’s too old. The rams young assistants have promise. Could they give Brian Flores another shot? Possibly, but I doubt it. Although Flores as HC and maybe Mike McDaniel as OC would be saucy. The Steelers like to do things their own way, so I expect something from left field. For all we know, they’ll make history and hire the first female head coach. You heard it here first.
