Lets hope Mr Rooney is getting closer to making major changes. If MT did step away Flores should be on the short list.
The end of the Tomlin Era

Don't people get tired of predicting this will happen every year? Rooney doesn't like paying people to not work for him. When Tomlin leaves it will be (a) because Tomlin decides to leave (like Noll and Cowher) or (b) because Rooney doesn't renew his contract (hasn't happened to a head coach in Pittsburgh since just before Nixon was president (I think...I'm a Canadian, but I think that timeline is correct).Comment

Noll retired but as I remember, he was restricted on who he could hire or retain at the end. He chose to retire instead of working under too much control. I see something like this happening with Mike T. He will retire after perhaps an understanding between he and Art is reached. This will happen because I believe we are going to be embarrassed Sunday and than again in LA.We are on the verge of a historically bad season. We had bad seasons before but we stayed in games.Comment

I'm going to bet against Rooney paying Tomlin until the end of the 2027 season to not coach for us. How many of the same "news" outlets have been saying "trust us, Rooney's really going to get rid of Tomlin this year. For real this time" every year. It won't happen before the end of his contract IMO.👍 1Comment

I don't know if anyone has noticed but the way the Seahawks offense is running makes me think that Kubiak should also be on that short list. It would be great to get a guy with some new millennium blood and thinking in the front office.Comment

I think you can quote if you manually type out the code. No paragraphs allowed though. "The Steelers Fans" site seems to be pretty good. A lot better than the other site I tried maybe 6 months ago. Less Dawson's Creek BS there (still some though).Comment

Can't edit now either apparently. I know NC is on the site I mentioned. I've seen Felt there too. Lemming I think said he was going, but I don't think I've seen him (maybe different user name). It's sad that this site had died IMO.Comment

I’m there but its not the same. A lot of weird drama between posters but at least its active. Looks like this team will not have a losing record this year. Let’s face it folks.. Tomlin isn’t going anywhere because we usually rebound after a bad loss or 2. The bad part is we will end up in draft limbo again unless this D is just finding its groove and keeps dominating like last game.Steelers 27

Yeah, I'd guess we'll have an up and down season and squeak into the playoffs again and get pounded in the first round, likely the wildcard round. And that probably won't be bad enough to replace Tomlin. The defense was stellar against the Colts. And while they were responsible for CREATING those turnovers, it's just not a sustainable way to keep playing great defense. I think it's easier for the team that play us to focus more on ball security than it would be if the strength of our defense was stopping the run and playing tight coverage. But at least that Colts game gave me reason for hope again!Comment

Felt, I agree that we're in that "Bills" zone where we aren't good enough to compete for anything more than making the playoffs and aren't bad enough to get a good QB in the draft. We're a bit better than the Bills were between Kelly and Allen because we make the playoffs more (in large part to the addition of the 6th seed). But to the organization, this is a feature and not a bug. Being "consistently competitive" is what this team has done since at least the end of the Noll era.Comment
