Tomlin repeatedly said he was the guy they wanted. He led the charge. They went all in on drafting him and he was a bust. And yes, first round bust absolutely set teams back. Don’ t fill a need and have to use another high round choice on the same position. Don’t be obtuse.

you act like we traded picks and moved into the top 5 to get Kenny. We missed but it was at #20 and we won 10 games with 2 QB’s on the cheap this year. We didn’t use a high pick on QB this draft.

Yes by some miracle he almost annually take a team predicted to have a losing season to the playoffs only to lose in a game we have no business reaching.

The funny thing is that we saw this before the season started when we talked about the “murderers row” to end our season.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

It was a huge miss and we still need a QB. WTF is so hard to understand about a total failure of a round 1 pick.

What does "all in on drafting him" mean to you?

We didn't trade up for him. Even though he was the first ranked QB (in a pretty bad class). We were content to see if he fell. I think it's fair to say we were "all in on drafting Devin White or Devin Bush" in the year we drafted Bush (a big fail). See how different our actions were in those two cases?

Then we didn't start him on day 1. If Mitch wasn't horrible, maybe Kenny doesn't even play in year one outside of injury (old school QB philosophy).

Then we gave up on him in year 2 because Mason was competent. This is probably the most "un-Steeler like" move that we've made in a long time. Because we saw that he wasn't an NFL starter. And we moved to fix the problem quickly.

They were never going to come out at a press conference and say something like: "Well, he was the best available QB is a crappy class. And we need a QB. So why not? Hope it works out. Sure do wish it wasn't such a ****ty QB class this year though."

Also..."he led the charge"? Any evidence for this? Most of the coverage I remember was about Colbert trying to leave a gift of the next Steelers starter at QB to cement his legacy. I remember saying (along with many others...maybe even everyone?) that this was a really stupid process.

Double digit losses? Well, you could say they are tuning up for the postseason.... <insert LOL>

it was a miss but it wasn’t a HUGE miss. We moved up to draft Bush at 10. That was a huge miss!!

You make it sound like we don’t have a first
round this year because we gave it up to get Kenny.

like I said when Kenny was drafted. If he succeeded it was Colbert’s pick, if he failed it was Tomlin’s.

People on here forget the story on here was Tomlin wanted the QB from Liberty and was told to sit in a corner.

Tomlin called players on draft night, telling them “we got our guy”. Unfortunately, in hindsight I think he meant “we got our guy to run a safe, conservative offense and not lose games for us”.
