Ummm, the WR was a 7th round grade; I'd call that a reach of epic proportions.

In all fairness ,Mike Mayock loves the pick .

I'm with you though. No need for a wr here.

He visited the Steelers the same day as Earl Thomas. Maybe he burned Thomas deep and really made an impression??
They don't work out during visits to team headquarters. Only interview and get a tour. If you want to work a guy out, you have to visit him on his home turf.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Mike Mayock had him as the best available WR on the board when we drafted him....I will take that over Walterfootball.........would of rather had Taylor Price but Sanders is a good player.

Re: With the Steelers 3rd round

At least we didn't give up a second round pick next year to get a QB-to-WR conversion project from Appalachian State. @#$%ing Patriots now have two firsts (including Oakland's) and two seconds (including Carolina's). The Panthers were doing great so far considering they stupidly gave up this year's first for a 2nd round pick last year, because Jimmy Clausen and Brandon LaFell fell into their laps...then they screw it all up by giving away a 2011 second rounder for a late 3rd round pick (and a guy that hasn't played the position he'll play in the pro game).

Mayock may love him and he may be a great WR in the NFL, but we signed WR depth in the off season. What happens if Hampton gets hurt? Kiesel? Smith again? Troy? clark? Ike?

I keep hearing the Steelers are thin at OLB; thy're thin on defense in general and they draft Stefan Logan II in the third.

What an ugly thought it is if Ike gets hurt, Burnett and Gay on the corners?

Please, this draft will only pan out if the Steelers stay healthy in 2010.

Golden Tate in the 2nd and Brandon Ghee in the 3rd would have been nice.

I can't believe I witnessed what I just saw. Unbelievable!

Re: With the Steelers 3rd round

Here is what the ESPN "Insiders" had to say about the Sanders pick:

18(82) Pittsburgh Steelers Emmanuel Sanders WR Southern Methodist

What he brings: Sanders is an undersized receiver who projects to play out of the slot. He has great quickness and suddenness getting out of his breaks. In addition, he shows good body control but can have some inconsistency with his hands on balls outside his frame. He should become a strong No. 3 receiver.

How he fits: Trading Santonio Holmes took away the only sure downfield playmaker the Steelers had. Hines Ward is aging and Limas Sweed has yet to produce, while Arnaz Battle and Antwaan Randle El have both had their ups and downs in the NFL. Pittsburgh needed depth here.
They call Santonio the only downfield playmaker we had, failing to mention the superb downfield threat who is expected to start opposite of Hines this year.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
