Does anyone else think that the Steelers are screwing the pooch in this draft?
Pappy
Yes! I love the Pouncey pick but really question everything since. I also don't understand why we didn't work to use all those picks to get another third or so. I'll admit I'm a little frustrated.
Agreed. It seems our needs are being addressed weakly or not at all.

Emmanuel Sanders, SMU
Height: 5-11. Weight: 181.
Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
Combine 40 Time: 4.41.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Vertical: 39.5. Broad: 10-10. Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/19/10: A typical June Jones receiver - Emmanuel Sanders had 98 catches for 1,339 yards and seven touchdowns.
2/7/09: Emmanuel Sanders was suspended for the final two games of the year for being late to practice. He was then ordered to take down Plaxico Burress' poster in his dorm room. It's a shame because Sanders managed 67 receptions, 958 yards and nine touchdowns.
7/26/08: Finished his sophomore campaign with 74 receptions, 889 yards and nine touchdowns. Also averaged more than nine yards per punt return, which is pretty solid.
Jesus Tap Dancing Christ.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
Yea, maybe they really do like Burnett and Lewis?? I hope that is it. Sanders is a very good punt returner so maybe that is the role he fills and we cut Logan? That would give us six WRs (Ward, Wallace, ARE, Battle, Sweed and Sanders). Battle and Sanders would fill a dual role of being on our special teams??
Cant say I would have done it the same way but all the picks are solid football players....no reaches. Would of liked a CB in the 3rd though. Maybe we can trade our 4 and (2) 5ths for a late 3.

I'm alot frustrated.
They drafted a project who best case scenario will be a backup for 2 to 3 years in the friggin 2nd.
Now at WR , they are either giving up on Sweed already or it was a waste bringing in Battle or ARE because they are not keeping 6 wr's.
It seems like they have no plan for this draft at all.
I have to agree with SteelCzar this draft is a train wreck. There was no need for it to be, the second round set up beautifully for an impact player and they took a project. The WR selection is as bizarre as trading Santonio to begin with. That kid won't even make the roster, another disaster in the third round.
Oh well, that's the way this off season has gone. They might as well give the rest of their draft to the Browns; people expect them to screw things up.

Who the F is walterfootball???? I will go with Mayock on this one. Good player!!!!!
i wanted decker......what the hell are we doing, between worlds and sanders, we could have traded down 30 picks and gotten each of them, i just dont know what we are doing. shold of got sean lee
He has good numbers, but considering it is in the pass-wacky June Jones run-and-shoot spread, and not a pro-style offense, they don't mean quite as much.
I really want to trust that the team knows way more about these guys than any of us, but I'm still frustrated (which is unusual for me...most years I am excited about our picks). Hoping for the best for these new Steelers.

Ummm, the WR was a 7th round grade; I'd call that a reach of epic proportions.
