It was well known that he was going to get a fairly large suspension.
And he got a massive contract with the most guaranteed money ever.
Maybe someone like Lamar looks at that and thinks "would my market value really fall all that much if I got hurt"? All you need is one team who wants to sell a lot of season tickets before the season starts.
Personally, it's not a gamble I'd make. But when the worst case scenario sets you up with multi-generational wealth anyway...I don't think it's crazy to swing for the fences.
