Ex-Steelers WR Limas Sweed had a workout with the New York Giants over this weekend.
It reportedly did not go well.
Mike Garafalo of the New Jersey Star-Ledger reported Sweed worked with other veterans and rookies in the Giants minicamp, but he dropped three passes, and slipped in a route that led to an interception.
Wrote Garafalo:
Sweed came here trying to make an impression. It’s extremely unlikely at this point it was a good one.
Sweed also had a private workout with the Bengals earlier this offseason, but the lack of contract offer suggests that didn’t go well either.
This may be the end of the line for the talented-but-troubled receiver. He was out of football in 2011, and with two failed tryouts under his belt now, short of possibly getting another look somewhere in training camp, Sweed’s chances of playing in the NFL in 2012 or beyond are circling the drain.
