So here come the complaints about 1st round picks on the D <insert broken record image>
looks like the staff likes him/ liked him in the past

like I said when we were looking at him, thank god dallas was in front of us and stopped tomlin from drafting his 2nd jarvis (violent hands) jones

Prior to that trade we had no 4th ,5th or 6th in the upcoming draft. Yes 2 comp picks should come our way but that's not in the bank yet.

Tomlin's charge is to build a winning team not a collection of individual talent. If a guy isn't buying into what they were wanting from him you have to let him go for the greater good.
Ingram's a competitor and may be better than 50% of starters on other teams. Watching KC's defense he's probably better than every DL so he'll get his wish to start and the Steelers will work on plugging the backup role.

Actually i was wrong on Steelers not playing Ingram enough. Just looked it up on defense Highsmith 289 snaps, Ingram 246. So Ingram was just being an idiot. That was a pretty good rotation.

This was probably more about an Ingram business decision. Probably an attempt to receive his last multi year contract extension of 3 to 4 years. He won't get top dollar even if he produces. He could receive a decent multi year contract extension if he produces.

good point burgh. He wasn't going to get a deal from the Steelers and next year being another year older he probably thought he needed to jump now. he probably signed with the Steelers just to get on a roster and keep his name in play this season, but was eyeing a trade all along. wouldn't shock me if his agent had this planned from the beginning....( I hate agents ).

He started so strong for us. After the first two games I was getting really excited about that pickup - then his snap count faded. I'm surprised they made the trade - but I suppose what he brought to the team wasn't worth the aggravation if he didn't want to be here.

Although I fully believe Tomlin and the team would keep a 'hostage' if that person was lights out better than the next man up.......

Agreed. Having a 'hostage' at the position would be better than having no depth to speak of there. So let's hope Tuzka (sp) can show that he is at least "almost" as good as Ingram.

Looks to me as though we helped the Chiefs out singificantly. Let's hope that doesn't come back to bite us.

I think trading him is a direct effect of the AB situation. It was not worth the headache to keep around perhaps the best receiver in the game. A game changing talent. They are not going through it for a backup linebacker.

FWIW, when the Giants traded OBJ to the Browns for a first, third, and Jabril Peppers, I loved it for NYG, hated it for the Browns. The Giants saw the potential of having the next AB, and after watching what that did to the Steelers, they decided to sell high and early on someone who they thought could be next. Right now it looks like a brilliant move for the Giants, a team that is not usually synonymous with the word brilliant.

We know what hostages do (AB, Harrison) and it definitely isn't worth the grief, especially for a rotational guy.

The Harrison situation was Tomlins fault though not JH. Anthony Chickillo might be the worst outside LB vs the run in Steelers history. He single handily lost the Bears OT game in 2017. Why Harrison didn't get more playing time that year is more of a mystery than where Hoffas body is located.

maybe JH was sleeping in meetings and showing his backside that year.

Not sure but I believe there is a reason JH’s role was reduced. After the 2 sacks in garbage time for the Pats JH didn’t so much for the Pats as far as I remember.

Yeah, imagine Ingram's count would have been a little lower had both Watt and Highsmith not missed week 3. He was still getting pretty good burn in weeks 4 and 5 then in Week 6 it dropped pretty significantly for whatever reason.

They brought him at the end of the Chiefs game we were barely holding the lead & he sacked Smith on 3rd down to help seal the win. Every time he played he did well. Chickillo wasn't even NFL material in my opinion. If Harrison was on the bench behind Greg Lloyd or Lawrence Taylor it would have been understandable.

The Harrison sleeping is the Pittsburgh media being told by the Steelers front office to trash Harrison. It happens every time the front office wants to swing perception of fans because they know the majority like yourself believe everything you read. Sorry i'm too smart to buy that garbage as to why he wasn't playing. Not saying he didn't do it to make a point. I'd be mad to if i spent all offseason getting up at 3am lifting weights & working out because Tomlin lied & told me i'd be a big part of the D as he had a role for me. He didn't deserve the bench as his "role" hall of famer who Chickillo couldn't carry his jock.

Harrison was great even in his final year at sealing the edge vs the run. Not sure Chickillo even knew what that term meant.
