Official 2015 Visit Thread

This thread, like past years, will hold all info on any official, local and unofficial visits by potential draft picks prior to the draft. In the past we have averaged 4 draftees from these lists so it is a good reference point to get an idea of future Steelers. Here are links to previous year's threads: 2014 2013 2012 2011 2010 2009

Cool. I was considering him for a later round OLB spot (perhaps the comp pick that got moved from 252 to 212) in my latest mock.

OVERVIEW
Had dominant senior season with 19.5 sacks. Named First Team FCS All-American, Missouri Valley Defensive Player of the Year, won Buck Buchanon Award (FCS’ top defensive player) and First Team All-Missouri Valley. Was 2013 Second Team All-Missouri Valley and 2012 Honorable Mention. Played in 15 games with eight starts as a freshman in 2011. Two-time All-State selection in high school. Rushed for 1,318 yards and had 84 tackles as a senior.

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS Logged 16.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in eight games against top 25 opponents. Fires out with forward lean and low pad level. Good hips with low center of gravity. Has ability to bend edge and turn corner abruptly. Plays with strength and isn't easily redirected when he gets to shoulder of tackle. Has quick feet. Frenetic, moving target who is hard to sustain against. Has a linebacker's agility and ability to avoid traffic at his feet. Pursues runners with outstanding angles and never believes he is out of a play. Can set the edge against run and accelerates into ball carriers with a thud.

WEAKNESSES Played against inferior offensive linemen and often rocked tackles off-balance too easily. Has an average burst to the edge. Struggles to find his way back into rush when he is quick-set. Plays with shorter limbs than scouts like and might be a 3-4 OLB only. Too reliant on "run-and-bend" pass rushing -- needs to increase repertoire. Could become engulfed by NFL linemen if he plays too far inside. Rarely breaks off pass rush at high point to come underneath the tackle.

BOTTOM LINE Small-school prospects often come with inflated statistics, but Emanuel's tape shows a combination of motor and skill that should be respected inside NFL buildings once he's studied closely. Emanuel has the leverage and hips to get under tackles and turn the corner, but his explosion off the snap will be tested. With his foot quickness and surprising lateral agility, there might be defensive coordinators willing to give him a shot as a 4-3 SAM linebacker.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I read the same report. If he's got the "run-and-bend" skill set down, Porter could definitely work with him on his other pass rush moves...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

2015 NFL Draft: Steelers reportedly add three more players to their pre-draft visit list

By Jeff.Hartman on Mar 29, 2015

The Pittsburgh Steelers are starting to compile some of their potential 30 pre-draft visits, and the team has announced three more players who will be making the trip to Pittsburgh for a visit.

It was reported Friday the Pittsburgh Steelers would be hosting Nebraska pass rusher Randy Gregory to one of their pre-draft visits, and NDSU standout linebacker Kyle Emanuel also found himself on the list of pre-draft visits headed to the South Side.

The NFL allows each franchise to host up to 30 players for these visits. While some could be a simply sit down conversation, others will have the players working out for the team's coaching staff. According to the fine folks here at SB Nation, the Steelers have added three more players to their pre-draft visit list.

The first is Cameron Clear, tight end from Texas A&M. The Steelers are looking to find Heath Miller's eventual replacement in this year's draft, and it might be in the team's best interest to take a look. Clear is a large human being standing at 6-foot 5-inches and weighing nearly 300 pounds, but Clear is not considered your modern era tight end. Clear has shown flashes of quality run blocking, but wasn't utilized often as a receiving option within the A&M offense. Clear appears to be more in the mold of Matt Spaeth than Miller.

The second visit for the Steelers will be Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker. Parker dealt with a foot injury which kept him out nearly his entire first half of his Senior season, but upon his return he was able to reel in over 800 yards receiving. Parker has the size (6-foot 3-inches) the Steelers look to possibly add to their arsenal at the wide receiver position. Parker will be headed to Pittsburgh to meet with the coaching staff and will also be working out for the team at the South Side facility.

The third visit will be a player Mike Tomlin and Joey Porter visited at his Pro Day at Missouri, and we are speaking of elite DE/OLB pass rusher Shane Ray. The Steelers continue to show massive amount of interest in Ray, although nearly all experts expect him to be off the board before the Steelers select at the No. 22 spot in the upcoming NFL Draft. If the Steelers trade up for Ray, he would be a welcome addition to the team's depth at outside linebacker, but how much would a move like that cost the team? Ray will be visiting to simply meet with the staff, not a workout.

The Steelers are doing their annual diligence in terms of evaluating talent, bringing in players and putting athletes through workouts all to try and find who might worthy of a selection by the most successful NFL franchise with a record 6 Lombardi trophies.

Shane Ray- interesting. Either they are trading up (unlikely) or doing some background work on someone else...... hello Markus Golden...

They wouldnt bring in ray to do their homework on Golden lol

It might be unlikely they trade up, but theyve done it before when they really wanted their guy with Polamlu and Holmes

The Devante Parker visit is even more interesting. He's a heck of a player and all, but could you imagine using the 22nd overall pick when we have deficiencies at so many other positions and we have three young talented wideouts already? Folks heads might explode.

He probably would be BPA if available at 22.

Peoples heads would explode, but those people dont matter....i would be frustrated pending how the rest of the draft shakes out but they should stick to their boards...you dont just draft defense for the sake of drafting defense

I think both Amari Cooper and Kevin White should go in the top 10, and Devante Parker would not slip past the Browns twice, since they have two picks in the teens before we pick at #22.

Well that wasnt the point of my comments IF he was there at 22, but I will remind you that you are talking about the same team that essentiall traded Julio Jones for Greg Little
